you're probably watching on "predicted mode" what this does is calculate from all the pings every 10 minutes and puts the dot where it should be using the recent trend of riding speeds. this is brilliant as waiting on dots to refresh is just a weird leapfrog move and requires interpolation to see what is really going on.

 

but obviously when someone actually stops. it needs to stop too!

I am a believer in slightly longer break equalling increased overall efficiency. I hope I'm correct.

Tim is a legend. He's done more stuff than one can imagine. Freedom Challenge, Silk Road, 1000 Miler, paddled the Zambezi from source to sea etc etc. As tough as they come.

But....  still 2300m ascent before that beer. The wind will help, a little, but much of it is a side wind, coming in almost directly from the West as he heads just to the East of North.

I wonder if anyone will shed some kgs off the bike weight in the last 100-0 kilometers, is that even allowed in this format or is it a case of, take no risks as anything can happen.
