Any race reports?

The heat must of made it significantly harder,  but it was always going to be blazing in Oudtshoorn in mid Feb.

Reach for Rainbows have some reports on their FaceBook page.

@bleedToWin come in...

My race report from the vets group is a bit boring...

The first half of the race was a tad too easy, which made the attacks in the second half really sting. Third lap the multi-pitch climb was hard from the bottom. The final 5min we were pushing over 400W single file through the feed zone going 37kph with okes trying to grab bottles while gaps are opening. I remember looking at my heart rate of 182 thinking this is good, I'm hurting but I can manage this and others are hurting too. Then the attack came and I had to drop 800W to follow, redlining 187bpm for the final 1min40s to get over the top. At this stage we're approaching mid 30's so the heat is playing a factor, there's still a break up the road and the team dynamics and having two cats in one race are disrupting our cohesion. I did some work and I threw some attacks just to keep things moving along. Felt like I was playing my cards right, but on the second pitch of the last lap I couldn't do the required over 400W anymore and was reduced to zone 3 Watts at zone 4 HR. Finished with one other guy 3 odd minutes behind the bunch.

Somewhat disappointing, but sometimes that's just how racing goes...

I'm pulling a hammy just reading that review with added heat...

After a strong WC champs ride that nearly ended in top step I'm sure you'll be disappointed. Well done none the less.

The multiple dad cats riding together seems to have different views amounts riders... Was it any easier to identify your category riders Vs at WC champs?

I'm fine with two cats combined, it's just another thing to manage but it's not too hectic. The four cats in one at WC Champs was too much though. Identifying riders was once again impossible with numbers all over the place, and at WC Champs we at least all mostly know each other. It was once again a case of asking around once the break is established to figure out what's going on. SA's 2021 in Swellendam we had clear number distinction (if I recall they were even colour coded) and it worked really well.

Strange the colour coded numbers seems like a simple solution

It's done in XCO racing for front number boards

So, if you are certain number of riders (team?) in an age category, you are allowed to be feed on the road by a support vehicle.

Then these riders use the feeding zone for other riders as a place to attack...

Even if the rules make provision for this, I cannot see the fairness in this?

making it a team event for something that is not supposed to be. 👀

Agreed ! rather difficult to podium if you are a one man show.
