RH, as much as I read does not need a lead out, has to have a proper train to the finishing line ..... look at the one stage where he had to fight for a wheel and was pushed out about 3 times.

I would think that RH was marked by the other sprinters this year; as he surprised most sprinters last year ... secondly his wife gave birth just before the tour started ....thirdly he is a SPRINTER!!! and I do believe that all the other sprinters have lifted their game for the tour ... common not even Robbie Mc Ewen could do anything' date=' even Thor Hushovd did not feature as much as he did last year......

 

Check Mark Cavindish next year .. I am sure he will be a marked man by the sprinters ....

Except Cavendish is fast and Hunter isn't.  You can mark Cavendish all you want but if he gets a clear run at the line in the last 200m the others need about 5 bike lengths gap to stand a chance.

Without a proper team around him to help him (even "protect" him at the sprints), RH was going to be very fortunate to get onto the right wheel and get an open line to the finish. As he did not have the "Lead out Man", he was left to his own devices, and yeah, he was a marked man and boxed in quite a couple of times by opposing teams. (See Cruxie, I do know a teensy little bit about racing)

He was in the running a couple of times, but I did not see him threaten to win a stage. (Ok, I did not watch all the stages, mebbe he did at some of the stages I did not get to see.

Anybody (even you) can get an Managers License, you must just hand over the dosh, and spend a couple of hours listening to Wynand and Hendrik, write a little test, pass it, and VOILA, you have a Managers License.

 

Have I used it up to now? NO, as the need hasn't arisen yet.

OK guys, I can see the slumber is over, the lull has passed, and all/(most of the TDF/Cycling experts are now awake and getting ready to flame me.

Check Mark Cavindish next year .. I am sure he will be a marked man by the sprinters ....

 

Cavendish was marked in every single sprint stage. The other guys knew long before the Tour how fast he was. It changes nothing - Just means some of the other sprinters fight to get on his wheel in the last couple of kilometres (and even that doesn't help them beat him).

Look at one of the stages where Cav won, you can see from the overhead where Steegmans finished.

 

After seeing the run in yesterday, had Cav completed the tour you would have 5 wins to his name without a doubt.

Does anyone know if the Barloworld team is still going to be with us next year, but only with a different sponsor name ? Are the riders staying together or moving on to other teams ? I heard a romour that Barloworld's funding is going to continue until end of next year ?
