My rims won't fit gravel tires so narrow MTB ones is what I look at. This looks good. Let me know where you find stock. Not really ideal for our winter and I would probably use the aspens if it rains but would have loved to try these at Ronde van Riebeek and even Gallows. https://evobikes.co.za/product/vittoria-terreno-29-tlr-graphene-2-0-skinwall/ Evobikes has them listed on the website. R1000 bucks each. They say in stock but probably best to check with them first. Lemme know if you get them how they perform. I’m gonna ponder a bit first before i commit😂 15 minutes ago, Vishal72 said: Protection (blackchili compound) version was sold out locally so got them from Chain Reaction https://www.chainreactioncycles.com/int/p/continental-race-king-protection-folding-mtb-tyre?color=black&wheelSizeWidth=29"+|+2.2" alternatively bike24 : https://www.bike24.com/p2266654.html Shieldwall version seems to be available locally : https://bike-addict.co.za/products/continental-race-king-shieldwall-29-x-2-2-tyre With the current exchange rate, importing is pricey these days. I fitted a Panaracer GravelKing SK+ 700x50mm tyre on a 29er rim with an internal width of 30mm, no issues. Ran this set up at Ronde von Riebeek on my rear. So, unless you have 40mm ID rims, you can fit a gravel tyre.

Not gonna stick with higher pressures... that said I haven't tried but have heard of others trying and not succeeding. EDIT: 50mm might actually be possible because of the volume but a 2.1 tyre is 53mm so same same Edited May 25, 2023 by WaldoZ El Duderino
Breezer Posted May 25, 2023 Share I have these Vredestein black panthers on my monstercross. Near continues centre ridge make the rolling resistance very low, but enough grip on a gravel road. And it is not to expensive. https://bike-addict.co.za/collections/vredestein-tyres/products/vredestein-black-panther-mtb-tyre?variant=39598767341652

To the best of my knowledge the Speed King has been discontinued. At least in MTB sizes. I believe the Race King offers pretty much the same package. BUT how much can we really trust the testing? i know it's standardized but metalplate is not sinkplaat! here's the gravel list they seem only to go up to 42mm https://www.bicyclerollingresistance.com/cx-gravel-reviews Well it's better than some random internet guy's opinion on a bike forum, let me tell you that. figjam_sa Posted May 29, 2023 Share I've been searching for Continental Race Kings since the beginning of the years and have not seen them at Cycle Lab, CWC or Bike Addict in this year so I've also wondered where you guys have found stock. I would also like to try them if they ever become available again Edited May 29, 2023 by figjam_sa

So they should be SUPER FAST, lol ChrisF

You should buy locally produced bike tyres then! Seriously though. Go do the maths and the prices here are still about 60% of what you will pay locally. so if it doesn't make sense to actually get the tyre you want and pay less for it, TheoG
