Thanks very much for all the feedback gents.

We are going in July as we are from KZN and will be in the Cape for another event. We are extending our stay by a few days to do the Cederberg Circuit. We'll need to take all weather gear I guess.

The pdf map on the website is a good place to start - they have marked a few places as catering.

For a government funded initiative you still need to do a LOT of homework to plan a trip here.

I made some very helpful suggestions when we did it in 2020. seems like they have been ignored.

First one is a reliable place to start/finish in citrusdal.  As the closest point to CT it is the obvious place to have a trailhead, (and park a car). nada

secondly, i see this farm in masssachusets is still listed as a place to stay. https://allandalefarm.com/

(for the record, this is the ONE they were going for)

sigh.

fair enough. I watched a mamil hike a papsak up mafadi once, 3 reasons- He had a good night sleep(everyone around his snoring not so much), he enjoyed some wine and he had a pillow for the evening once he blew the empty papsak up...

Never underestimate Mamils

If you want to go light and don't carry supper, then my personal favorite route option is:

Start at Kunje Guest Farm (call them and pre-arrange parking, they are very nice).

Day 1 - Kunje > Citrusdal > into the berg over Nieuwoudts Pass > sleep at Jamaka (the shop has more than enough food and beer, so you dont need to carry anything).

Day 2 - Jamaka > up Uitkyk Pass > rest stop at Sanddrift wines / Kromriver / Oasis > sleep at Mount Ceder.

Day 3 - Mount Ceder back to Kunje (if you want to, call the owner of Houdenbek Farm and ask his permission to take the shortcut through his farm to connect back to the R303 where the shoulder starts).

Alternatively, if you want to follow the whole route, then start in Citrusdal, go all the way down to Clanwilliam and come back up the dirt road, sleep at Jamaka. Day 2 is the same, but day 3 is a very long one and you have to do Middelberg Pass at the end of three days with tired legs.

good option - plan B -  middelberg pass from the south is not as bad as the norf!

your other shops on the way are citrusdal/algeria(not much)/driehoek(off trail)

This is Mamils on Tour. The terms Glamping and Slack Packing come to mind.
Its not Bear Grylls Bootcamp!
There needs to be beer and wine and steak 😂

FYI, check first but the Cederberg breweries tap room is open on saturdays only

I live about an hour from Algeria.. July has either East Mountain wind or its wet. Super unpredictable month. And for the first time in like 9 years I think it is going to be raining properly this July

What about "Slack packing"  the Cedar Berg??

I.e: no tent and food, only clothes, water, and snacks

Trying to look at B&B style options

Cedar Berg Oasis looked ideal when we stopped over for drinks while driving

Any other ideas , anyone done similar ?

4 of us did a 4 day (3 riding days) Cederberg Tour towards the end of March.

Arrived @ Cederberg Oasis Wed night - Great chow and tented accommodation.

Departed Thurs morning after breakfast at Oasis.

Day 1 - Oasis to Mertonhof Guest Farm in the Biedouw Valley via Eselbank & Wuppertal (stop for a swim at the waterfall).
Mertonhof have a great guest house and full supper & breakfast can be arranged with the owner.

Day 2 - Mertonhof Guest Farm to Jamaka Farm via Clanwilliam. Longest day but plenty places to stop for food & water.

Day 3 - Chill at Jamaka and enjoy pizza & beer

Day 4 - Jamaka to Oasis via Uitkyk Pass and Sandrif.

Depart Oasis Sunday around lunch time after another great meal 🤙

Awesome route with some huge climbs to test your legs. We slept & ate like Kings 👍🍻
