Stanchion wrap

In doing some reading about dealing with the inevitable but dreaded tiny chips & fine scratches on fork stanchions, I came across this: https://cyclinic.com.au/blogs/suspension/an-introduction-stanchion-wrap

This seemed crazy at first glance, but they make it sound like it actually works. Does anyone have any experience with this product?

(I'm very aware of the technicalities of using something like the Sendhit kit or a razor blade to remove tiny burrs, filling with epoxy, sanding down extremely carefully, etc.)

But, this is something completely new to me. @droo @Jakes 001 what do you think?

2 bumps in and that stuff would be bunched up around the crown like a foreskin.

Looks shiny in the photos though.

(On a serious note, the reason stanchion tubes are anodised aluminium is because aluminium oxide is one of the hardest substances known to man. Vinyl is not.)

Yeah, it's logical with just 2 seconds of thinking about it. I can't believe I even typed the original post, must have been a slow day for me. Please don't hold it against me 😆

There is this one for Guns

Protective | Cerakote SA

Spray on Coatings could work. Like they do on the Refurbishment of Frying Pans.

I see the MX guys like to coat the stanchion's on MX bikes. It reduces  friction and heat not to mention it just looks cool.

This is the guy your stanchions are scared of...

Rock can break scissors/micro layer of anodised alum, but Chuck can break anything :P
