This reminds of when I learned that milk is a great alternative to sports drinks for endurance hydration.

Purely sugar management has been great

On less than quarter of the insulin I was in Oct and stats are slightly down and more consistent.

Cholesterol , minerals and vitamins are what I'm most interested in.

Kindly keep us posted on the diabetes progress.  If it works, it may be interesting reading up more on this.

But lets not derail this thread ....

I'm keen to hear other opinions

At the end of the day ( as a fucken diabetic in very good health )

I've learned nutrition is down to an individual , I've been on my current diet just under 2 months and doing spectacularly but I'm still going for s test to comb through micro details at the end of this month.

These 1 gram carb per kg things might work lekker for you guys but that **** will kill me.

Same as my current diet will probably kill some overweight people/ blood pressure issue people but it works fantastic for me.

AS LONG as people are healthy.

I thought about veganism for loooooooong ( not ethic , my health ) but I couldn't find anyway to do it with enough food and low enough carbs for me to go day to day.

I just hate when people try to force down their ideas upon someone

On the topic of a "balanced diet" and diabetics.....

After my diagnoses my Doc wanted me to cut down my intake to a very limited number of basic items - to get my blood sugar under control.  The idea was to first control the blood sugar, THEN to experiment with different fruits and other food groups.  Take a "normal portion" of a particular product, then test 2 hours later see how YOUR body copes with that particular product.  Sounds like schlep, but you very quickly find out what works for YOU.   She made the statement that no two of her patients would react the same way to the same product.  I have since confirmed this with other diabetics .... totally different food stuffs send your blood sugar for a spiral.

As for diabetics wanting to be anything more than weekend riders/runners .... there are dietitians that have specialised on this topic !  Excellent lady at Panorama dietitians

With all my training, and race fuel, for Trans Augrabies my HBA1C barely rose by 0,2.

Will see end of February what Rapha and race training as well as three races have done to my HBA1C ....

PS - as a "moderate" rider my fueling is easier, and my balanced eating plan takes care of any suppliments.  Okay, I do pop a SlowMag or 2 per month.

But why though? Cheaper to suppliment and significantly less fat intake.

He, I've never tried it, but some extra lean cooked mince plus a bit of milk and Bovril sounds yummy 🙂
