Does anyone have an opinion on the Kenda Booster Pro (700x40c) tyre? I just bought a set at LBS recommendation, and the reviews online seem pretty glowing. Plus the tan walls now match my mtb so that must reduce the rolling resistance a little.

I wrote a gravel tyre buyer's guide not so long ago - hopefully helpful:

Interesting to see the increasing options for semi and full slick tyres, now up to c40.

Certainly an increasing market for people wanting ultra wide low rolling resistance tyres in town.

But yea ... these are still scarce in SA.

Can anyone advise where is the best place locally to get gravel tyres? Im new to gravel, and my wheelset is 650b with WTB tyres. I cannot find anywhere online that stocks semi road 650b tyres.

I put on the Spaz Pathfinders in 40c

Very happy and great on the road too.   Only issue is front one doesn't hold air well, tyre loses half it's pressure over a few days.   I've put more sealant in there than I care to think too.  But as the back is fine, I thought it was the rim / valve.   Replaced tape and valves and still the same, so maybe a dud tyre.

Speak to Janos at Evobikes.

Evobikes is an excellent online shop.  And if you reside in the Cape you can drive to their shop in Kraaifontein.

If you have a Specialized store close to you, have a look at their range.

You can also look at Cycle Lab and CWC.  I have found their website to not reflect everything on the shelves, so give them a call.

Save yourself all the effort and just buy from Evobikes 👍

I ordered a set of 45mm pathfinder TLR's yesterday. I will also share some feedback once tested.

I am currently running the Schwalbe G one RS in 40mm, but they are not very confidence inspiring on loose gravel. I also had a smallish cut (2mm) on the rear tire that took 2 doses of orange seal sealant to eventually plug. Also decided to go for 45mm rather for some additional comfort.

The RS one rolls nicely on the tarmac though. On my revolt, at 200W power, I am about 1.8 km/h slower than my road bike with 28mm GP5000 TLR fitted. I must say I do prefer the revolt with the comfort on longer rides. Road bike is mostly being used on the trainer.

I'm waiting for the new schwalbe range to land before going that same route (RS in 40mm width) . New ones test stupid fast https://www.bicyclerollingresistance.com/cx-gravel-reviews/schwalbe-g-one-rs-pro-40

Has anyone tried the new 2.0 formulation of the Silca sealant? I have ordered a bottle with my new tires. Interesting claims about it lasting more than 6 months. Also now apparently injectable through most valves...

I have been using orange seal original, but it does require quite frequent top ups.

My only concern with the g ones are the grip on loose gravel, wet trails and their durability. After about 1000km on mine, the wear on the rear is quite noticeable. Does seem to cut quite easily as well.
