If we cycle there should we enter via the bridge from school's side or can we entire via Sportway? I don't want to interfere with any of the starting groups.

The map in the email shows it nicely - red dotted line.

The blue route, over the bridge is the finish route

Best is to enter via the TOP of Sports way ie come from De Villiers. Although the bridge is also a good option

@NicholasH Could you kindly confirm, if you drop back to start in a later group, does it affect your overall time?

Last year it was noted, guys that dropped back, their times were 4 mins slower than the actual group they started in.

As far as I know: no, you can start anywhere. Possibly timing issues last year with the new system..?

Best would be to actually contact Finish Time directly as that is an area totally out of our control. If you don't get an answer, email me directly

It shouldn't affect your time if you fall back (we did that for Winelands and it was fine). The incident you mentioned would have been an error, hopefully it was fixed.

Be safe okes!

Yep, our race is huge this year. However, remember that we have full road closure for the last 15km to the finish line. So that should help for the sprint finish.

It will be like you are at the TdF finish 😁

Durbie Dash, end of last year, I started 2 or 3 batches late.  Their time and my Garmin time was the same.

Seems Finish Time sorted out this gremlin.

Awesome!

Maybe a bit of a noob question but I've only completed 2 road races in my time - will there be distance markers for the last few hundred meters towards the finish line? In both the Durbie Dash and Winelands cycle race the finish line has caught the group by surprise. Was really disappointing as there could've been a good sprint to the line.

So we had a site meeting at the finish area last night. Unlike Durbie Dash, our finish line is after Schoongezicht street. So, after the climb to the end, you still have almost 500m to the actual finish line and there will be a huge tower across the road so you can't miss the actual finish line. I did request 200m and 100m signage last night but it is too late. We will def arrange for that for next year.

Hi Nicholas.  I presume a substitution at registration is allowed, for a nominal fee of course?

In fact, not.... but pls email me directly

Missing out on 99’er this year but just want to add that I think the engagement from the organiser & his willingness to listen to suggestions is really encouraging. Will definitely be back next year 🤞

Thx for kind words. We try our best. As stated many times, we are a bunch of school parents putting on a bike race. We learn every year and no doubt we make mistakes every year. Your input helps us put on a better event.

Be gentle when we get it wrong....
