That was fun in Cat3. Too bad about the crash at the trail tracks. Does anyone what happened? Just saw a wheel 2m in the air out of the corner of my eye, and then also hear the motorcycle falling over behind me. I was actually thinking that everyone is approaching the tracks quite sensibly and safely, giving space for others, etc. Then next moment plastic and carbon was hitting the tar.

Thanks to the machine in red who basically worked alone the whole way. I felt like I was just witnessing an impressive 70km ITT from a prime viewing position 😁. Much appreciated.

That was the traffic cop parking her bike across the tracks to "warn" about the tracks. By the time we came through in cat 2 (you overtook us just before that) they were yelling at each other about who's fault it was.

I let gomof the group there having decided to do only one lap and helped a guy from cat 3 with his puncture and he told me it was definitely the cops fault.

But they were skelling mekaar lekker for sure. Her bike was stuffed and so was the cyclists. Didn't look.like anyone was hurt.

I enjoyed the lap with cat 2 who dawdled along with one or two efforts.

The ladies wouldn't let me downgrade so .... just a fun morning out.

I'll definitely do.more of these WP races. They feel safer than the fun rides.

Who ever crashed seemed ok when we came through. The Machine in red is a SA TT champ in his age cat, he could easily ride Cat 2 as well.

Happy you enjoyed yourself. See you at Atlantis on the 16th. Than will be a lot faster.

I entered Cat3 and then got bumped down to cat 4. Apparently the cat 3 bunch was too big so everyone that’s never done this series before automatically got moved down. This meant that we had probably around 20 Cat 3 guys give or take and the rest cat 4 which actually made for quite a tough race due the smaller bunch.

Im not actually sure what happens now going forward. Do I stay with Cat 4 for the rest of the series? Do i enter cat 3 for the next race?

@Mamil you missed the fun on the 2nd lap 😀 Think most were saving matches for the last 30km, pace picked up considerably closer to the finish.

Good to see everyone rocking up in numbers. These events are always well organised.

Yeah I enjoyed the race. Actually much more than the regular PPA races. I like the fact that no one is chasing time here and it’s more about position, so like an actual race. Also like the team aspect. We only had 3 guys available but was great to actually work for someone, albeit sacrifice yourself. Completely different to the PPA stuff. Also found it much safer.

Quite pleased to have missed that cos I still had to ride back to Southern suburbs after. Ended up being a big day out but I definitely have the sense that I'm outgunned in Cat 2 - even though that first lap was slow .... I think for Atlantis I'll sign up for Cat 3 - I think I'm allowed to do that? Probably have to buy another number.

Also not sure how it works - they took back our timing chips but not our numbers so you might have to purchase a new one. But they will definitely allow you in Cat 3

Haven't done Atlantis in a while but its a nice circuit to race, unfortunately I have another race on that weekend.
