A question, please.  Years ago I was a member of Think Bike and had a set of "dog tags" with my particulars, next of kin etc on it.  Is there something similar for cyclists?  I am thinking of a scenario (heavens forbid!) where one is injured in an accident or a serious fall, to enable medical personnel or SAPS/Metro to at least identify you and notify next of kin.  I do not carry my wallet or ID around with me when cycling.

If you do carry a cellphone then I think there is an option on the locked home screen to add emergency information and it can be opened without having to unlock the phone.

Edit: for Samsung https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/mobile-devices/how-to-use-galaxy-device-in-an-emergency-to-contact-emergency-contacts-and-view-important-medical-information/?srsltid=AfmBOorm2FLUrzGEgEZBR2tp9BgCPSn3wc7qTGoVT5SvqLI2XKE_k361

IICE ID. Think its Mickey Mouse's wifes business. When i was in my student days i used to rock to dog tags on a chain. after that the broad rubber type and i see they make ones that slips directly onto your garmin/Apple strap now.

The problem with these is that a first responded would have to actively look for this. so dont "hide" them.

Im thinking in the line of those "Pro only" name decals with your blood type and medical condition underneath your name?? placed on a helmet and bike.

This is why I wear both a wrist band type and a helmet strap ID.

My thinking is that some will most likely check for a pulse on wrist or neck, and in both cases the ID should catch their eye. Also if they need to remove my helmet for any reason its right there by the clasp, so they should hopefully see it.

Next to writing the info on your arm with a permanent marker, this is the next best thing (in my opinion).

Also have Emergency info on the phone without needing to unlock.

I've had a little business idea for a while now.
Think a ICE band but with a scannable QR code. once scanned it takes you to all your emergency particulars. You can decide what to update and share. (lots of Qs here. PIP info stored, HIPA, POPI potentially GDPR.) The band ships with a App download to IOS\Driod.

You can also expand the idea out to stickers with the same QR code and a emergency Signia. perhaps in Bold Red. stick it on your helmet, bike, or even print it on your shirt sleeve as a service.

Out to the universe  now but remember to buy me a new Sworks SL whatever when you make your first million...

great idea in theory, but you will be surprised at how many people actually have no idea on how to scan a QR code.

And then there are those that are using older phones or phones with older software that wont natively scan a QR code without a added app installed.

As I was typing this I also thought of another potential issue, out on the trails with no cell signal, you wont be able to scan that QR code. But perhaps if some basic info is included next to the QR code.

But the idea is good, the fact that you can update info as a when needed.

I think anything is better than nothing. Big issue is actually cycling's biggest issue. Standards, it needs to be made a standard so that first responders are only looking for 1 thing.
