Ai, true that and I need the stability when I start swinging as well!

If you go over par, you still get dronk with all the other hacks, if you go over the bar, it’s straight to ER and Oros for dinner.

I'll skip the bar, been over that - not advisable
I'll always be over par doing m*er & soek. No need to walk around following a ball to get dronk. Both are overrated

Serious question:
I've missed all the seeding races up to now, and will not be around locally in October to squeeze in Shova, etc.
Anybody know of any seeding races left / have an idea how to still get a semi-decent seeding for this race.

My last "94.7" was done in 2018

This year's Shova is in July, not October.

All things being equal it also be my 19th, ticking it off then God willing 20th in 2026 ... Maybe hang up the cleats for this race after that?

why not 21 ? as that seems to be the magic  number in these cycle tours

I'm an even number OCD type of person...😁 Probably also why I went on early pension from Sasol after 40 years of service and 60 years old.

Only for that race Chris .... I'm happy with the number 20, I don't think there's anything special about 21 anyway

Reminds me when the neuro and vascular surgeon were standing next to my bed in ICU just over 2 years ago now .... "is there anything you haven't or still want to achieve in your cycling?"

After my wife and son told them what I had done over the years they said "ok he's good then if he needs to stop"

The both of them "NO THAT'S NOT HAPPENING, NO WAY IN HELL HE'LL STOP RIDING!"

At the time I wasn't really in a state to say anything 😏

Stupid question....

I have always ridden in the open cat, its been a nice time with family members and buddies.

This year I want to go a bit harder, set a nice PB maybe, so I was thinking of joining the racing vets applicable to my age.

I assume I need a license from CSA, is it cycling membership or the domestic race license?

Is there any other process when signing up?

Thanks!

Most importantly you need to check if your seeding will allow you to race with the vets.

what sort of PB are you wanting to set ? perhaps you dont need to get into the vets group

This. Many guys here ride sub 3 in the open categories, I'm pretty sure you don't need to enter vets.

Very true actually, I want to do a sub 3, ideally 2.45, not sure why that number.

Did the 105km Groot trap in 3.06, itt for many many kms, so I think I have it in me, and more so if I find a good group hahahaha.

But thanks, let me give it horns in the open cat this year and see how it goes

If you can get a top 20 in your group and your best/last/seeding time is within 15 minutes of your age group Vets winning time, then maybe switch. It's much harder and more fun. And if you can stay in the 3rd group till 75k you're going well. Eg the 70-74 age cat winning time at CTCT this year around 2h45.
