Hi Folks, if anyone is able to view the results as per their start group - please share etc.

Also, the start groups seemed to be a bit of weird mixed bag vibe. Anyways, that was my experinece.

You can filter by wave and then on the right hand side you will see your batch position.

Thanks, either it has been updated or I'm a bit thick šŸ˜…

Was a surgy race in the % group. Crosswinds were wreaking havoc and people weren't shy to push you out of the echelon

Not happy about the ~5 minutes of neutralization we had to go through. Based on the times, I don't think AL/BL/CL were neutralized which is annoying for seeding reasons

IMO $ should start 10 - 15 minutes before everyone else, then you don't need to worry about any potential neutralization.

There were times where the group had no idea if we were going straight, left, right. The bike marshall would turn 90 degrees at the last second and if you tried to look at the person holding one of the red flags, they were basically dancing, left right up down no idea. Very confusing if you were in front at the timeĀ šŸ˜‚

Side note: Noticed a 3-4 riders in % that had no race number or timing board, but joined the race anyway - which sucks for the organisers and everyone else who paid. Probably quite a common thing.

All in all happy and had fun šŸ‘ thanks to the organisers.

Hopefully not common and something that can be dealt with. That's shocking behaviour!

I know this isn't mtb/gravel, but do people not load maps on their head units? Also, this route is as basic as it gets! šŸ˜†

I started in the AL group and can confirm our first bit of the neutral "25kph" sectionĀ  definitely felt faster:ph34r:.Ā

Overall great race, apart from the cones being packed out across the road to indicate the turnoff to the short route.Ā

Barely held on the first 40kms but after that could remain in the pack so I was in the purple a few times. About 25kms from the end I got caught behind someone who had a flat and how I remained upright was a miracle seeing that our wheels touched and I couldn't get past.

All that for my chain to fall off 10kms from the end shifting onto the big ring, how that happened I still have no idea so I had a solo ride for the last 10kms. I lost about 5min so I am bit disappointed I couldn't finish with the group but I see I still finished within the first 50% of the group so not too bad I guess.Ā

Great weather and vibe at the end with my boys and wife waiting at the finish line.Ā Ā Ā

Next year I think I am trying the MTB

I started in %, but clearly don't have the legs I had at the start of the year. Got dropped about 15km out, only to catch back up when the neutralisation happened. Got dropped again shortly after the restart and decided to cut my losses and wait for A.

The pace in A was vastly different, no one was really pushing the hills, and once we hit the headwind section it became a very chilled ride. I had nothing to lose so started throwing a few attacks after the siloes, just to keep things somewhat honest and interesting.

A also had all but 1 of the racing ladies (they also having been dropped from %). Made the dynamics a little weird as 3 of them were in the same team, so as soon as 1 got in a mini-break the other 2 would sit up, but stay on the front, so you'd have to go around them to close it. Minor, but added a little stress to the last 12km.

I get that you were seeded in the same group and all, so it's within the rules, but whenever the opportunity presents to allow women to race each other fairly I find it best to let the tactics play out and not close gaps etc. They have so few opportunities without having to contend with dropped men interrupting their attempts at securing podium spots...

I don't disagree in principle, but it definitely gets messy on race day.

Scenario: 4 women in bunch of men, 3 men break and one women tags on, so she's now in the break.

She didn't break on her own, she escaped with the help of 3 men.

So one could argue it's the same thing when another man closes down the break, even if doing so brings the other 3 women back as well.

I guess all this just shows how tricky it is for woman to race each when mixed in a group with males. Can't blame them for negative riding because attacking would rarely be rewarded.

That said I see the lady that won was the only girl that managed to stick with the front of % when the group splitted, so well done to herĀ šŸ‘Š

100%
I've said the same about tandems, who we tend to ride with in % at 99er and Tour de PPA.

They'll shoot down the hills, taking a whole bunch with them, but then grind to a halt as soon as there's an incline, so it just makes for really weird racing dynamics.

With all that said, we're not pros, we're (mostly) there to have fun, so as long as I get round without kissing tar I'm generally pretty chilled about all the oddities we encounter along the way.

Yeah, and the remainder were racing for podium spots with mostly drop-off % riders whose race was effectively over still influencing things.Ā
