Overall great race, apart from the cones being packed out across the road to indicate the turnoff to the short route.

This caused confusion with the front of group BL, with the oke shouting super loudly "GO AROUND THE COOONES !"
I was thinking, do you go around the cones on a straight, or should we turn?! 😂

Luckily, the group was thinned out with people gunning it from the start (after the 'neural zone'), so no major pile-ups or anything, other than some people being mildly annoyed.

Hi there -can you just give me some details on where/how the cones were placed - will give it through to the main organiser so that they can fix it for next year. A bit surprised that someone thought packing cones where the routes split is a great idea..

Sorry what I'm getting at - were the cones like in the middle of the road and the long route people had to go round it or was it in the middle of the road and a hazard to everyone who were keeping left?

I'm thumb sucking a bit here, but the cones were in the left lane, across the entire lane. About 4 or 5 cones evenly spaced. So the guys in the front of the group could spot them and just split through the gaps but the rest of the group were caught off guard and caused swerving and sudden braking in the group.

Started in CL group... No Marshall's towards wellington road, was a bit sketchy esp going over the robots, then the guys and ladies missed the wellington turn and went into the area. had to make u-turn lost a couple of minutes. Other than that great race until my group dropped me just before Adderley and had to solo to the finish, lost 10minutes.

Pretty sure getting dropped on Adderley is a rite of passage for Cape Town cyclists. At some point, it'll happen to you 🤣

Not can be brutal, it was BRUTAL, but FUN. hope you understand. and i've reconned the route so many times. The wind also didn't help the situation. but its all lessons for DC and Amateur world champs in March 26.

It was my first Dash, was meant to start in DL but ended up in EL because somehow they started earlier than advertised. Anyways, I spent maybe around 20-30% in the race pulling at the front to try and go for a sub3, headwind into Adderley popped my legs and managed a 3:05. Enjoyed and will definitely be back for more 🤩
