Ok,I need some help from the serious Mtb weight experts.

I want to over time reduce the weight on my bike but need to know what to look out for if a special comes along.

Bike Merida mission 3000D

Spec.

Full XT

Front fork: Rock shock Reba 115m travel.

Rear Shock: Manitou LRS

Rims: DTSwiss X455

Hubs: XT

Tires: Mavic Crossmark

Stem/Handlebars/seat post: Mission X Pro.

Seat: Sella Italia

Pedals: Shimano M520.

<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Equipment need to be good enough to handle sabie experience and Drifter series type of races.

Starting at the stuff I can change that will cost the least working up to the more expensive stuff and if possible what the weight gain would be.

Thanks would appreciate the help because I am a bit of a rookie MTB?er!!!EmbarrassedConfused

lost you can do - bets thing is to first weigh every part you have - then you'll be surprised as to whats actually heavy and whats not really, then you can see wheat are the economical ways of dropping weight.....

KCNC bar/stem/post

lighter tyres like specialized 2bliss with stans

if you have the cash start with the wheels, cos there you actually notice the difference.......

btw, don't think you can put a fox shock on one of those frames.

decide now if you really want to be a weight weenie, it's a one way path.

I'd rather spend time and money riding the thing, but a set of V's is an easy way to drop the grams

1. Get lighter tires. The crossmarks weighs a ton. The Specialized 2bliss will save you alot, like rock said.

2. Then get X 0 rear der and gripshifts.

3 Put everything KCNC you can get on the bike.

4 Swop the brakes for some Hope mini pro's.

5 American classic hubs will weigh about half of the XT's.

6 Get a HT.

Ok, so I will start with the tires,Handlebar, seatpost and stem.Thumbs%20Up

Next will be the wheels or maybe just the Hubs and Pedals?

Any sugestions on what wheels to look out for?

Should I stick with the rims and maybe just change the hubs?

I weigh about 64kg so I don't need the to have the strongest rims.

Here is an indication of what you might/could save:

(I'm think X-mission comp below may even be heavier than X-mission Pro, so the saving could be less)

All in all 140grams or so (maybe less):

Seatpost

X-Mission Comp SB20 31.6                     288g

Ritchey WCS 7075                                  235g

Stem

X-Mission Comp OS Cen 7                      157g

Ritchey WCS 4-Axis                                110g

Handlebar

X-Mission Comp Cen 31.8 Flat 600         191g

Ritchey WCS Flat Bar                              140g

Grips

X-Mission                                                110g

Bar-ends

X-Mission Comp                                      133g
