FanieFiets Posted November 8, 2006 Share Last night was my first Kilarney experience.......and what an experience!!!! When the thing started I was shocked at the hectic pace. And then I made the mistake of drifting to the back. The guy in front of me got dropped and then I couldnt close the gap so did a couple of laps with him after which I joined other groups etc. In the whole experience I think I coughed up a part of my lung and I generally felt like i was mauled by a cougar, maar damn dit was fun gewees. 2. Kilarney is NIE vir sissies nie!!!! Sien julle VERSEKER weer daar as ek in die area is. FanieFiets Posted November 8, 2006 Share I knew two brothers riding elites Hannes and Chris van der Walt and met a couple of other guys. Overall the guys are quite friendly. But later on I joined a group going semi-fast and they were yelling at me do this and do to that to which I decided I'm not in the military so I dropped out and joined another group. I arrived a little late (traffic is a b*tch, rather try to cycle there), so couldnt see I could meet up with some hubbers. Dicky DQ Posted November 9, 2006 Share Welcomd Fanie, it is fun isn't it. My only aim is not to get lapped by scratch, however this year I have been lucky enough to finish 2nd ir 3rd bunch. You learn a few things at Kilarney, how to work, jump gaps if you are asleep, Never to be asleep in the bunch, how to read a race and finaly how to ride in the wind.what ever else it is fun and you get a great workout. smallrebel Posted November 9, 2006 Share Fanie, jy moet maar leer om die water teen 40 - 45km/h te drink.....
pedal Posted November 9, 2006 Share Fanie, Welcome to the wonderful world of Killarney..... never got to meet you, but so pleased you made it. Next week come meet me, as you get a 'product prize for effort OK.......Yeah, wind was hectic, but has been FAR Worse....... a good training partner. FanieFiets Posted November 9, 2006 Share my avr. hartklop was ook so 180. Avr. Maar die spoed as so 34 km/h.
fatcyclist Posted November 9, 2006 Share The last few times in scratched, I'd have preffered to be mauled by a lion...instead it felt like a Gorilla had his way with me after od'ing on Viagra. The last time I didn't get mauled, we started in scratch and avg'd 44 according to ZippIt. Fanie, wait until you ride scratch with the Liberty Development Team...
