SP, Mr. Frey will NEVER EVER put stuff like this in writing.  But he makes the accusations and he gets away with it cause Cyclesure sees him as a good assessor.  Of course they would!  He intimidates the living hell out of all the clients!

I was wondering if the assessor gets some kind of bonus for ripping clients off.

I was wondering if they were paid by monies saved or by claim successfully done!

ewep, much as i'm doing everything i can to avoid ever having to claim again, if i do end up in that situation i will deal very differently with that arsehole and then he WILL land up in court. i know exactly how this shall happen and how to ensure it does.

he gives the insurance industry an even worse reputation than it has already earned itself.

Officially the answer must be "No!!"......but I'm sure that if they sucessfully decline liability on claims numbers they would impress insurers enough to get more work!! This would be a most unethical practice though!!

If you have any issues with an adjuster there is an association you can take it up with to try and remove these guys from beng used by insurers....

i used to be with outsurance purely because they would insure a very low sum insured in a cottage on a property. as soon as i moved into my house and got all my stuff back form my folks i changed because i got cheaper and better cover through cyclsure. mr frey is still gonna fry himself one day. he cliamed i staged my burglary and that i came home and let someone in to get my stuff (jewellery in a box that my sister had painted for me... now why would i "stage" something where something HIGHLY sentimental of little value also gets taken??? huh???) and hten went backt o work. this despite an office security system that i could not have bypassed showed i was in the office 6 floors above ground level in front of about 20 witnesses. but given half a chance i'll nail this bastard in a court of law. such a pity that he didn't put his accusations in writing or i would've had him in court. at least fred from cyclsure apologised.

SP ....you should have taken this further.......'m sure the Institute of Loss Adjusters would love to hear about this! They are very strict about the conduct within the industry!!

Most people look at the PREMIUM and base their judgement on that alone.

Outsurance knows this very well and bases their entire "package" on a low premium.

The problem is with a low premium you get low cover.

I am not a broker and I have nothing whatsoever to do with the insurance industry but I am in the construction industry where we do a lot of insurance claims and my suggestion is stay away from insurers who cut out the broker.

Stick with the blue chip insurers like Sanlam, M&F, SA Eagle etc they have a reputation for paying claims not fighting over small issues to dispute ones claim.

Also remember a broker fights your case for you with the insurer, he has a much bigger clout than you as a single person and understands what the insurer needs, as a private guy you are at their mercy,

Brokers have an intimate knowledge of the industry, I have an intimate knowledge of construction, if a broker wants something built, I can advise him, if I need insurance cover I look for a broker who can advise me!!.

Before you sign up with Outsurance, please read the fine print!!! Their monthly payments are ussually low, but the problems come when you want to claim. Had an incident about 4 years ago when they broke into my house. I was interrogated by Outsurance as if I was the quilty party, was not a nice experience. Expect questions like what color was the leather jacket, did it have buttons, where did you buy it, how much did you pay, was it long or short, etc.... And yes I was asked these questions in respect of each and every item that was stolen.Spent 45 minutes on the phone.

Had the same experiece with Outsurance where the accessor questioned me like I was the thief . I chased the lady of my property and phones her boss to explain my concern to him . Claim was paid no further questions asked .

The difference between insurers are that some of them have no problem in paying out while others try to find reasons why they don't. That's why I reiterate READ THE FINE PRINT PLEASE.

Quite correct.

Just as a bit of interest, we did an insurance claim on a warehouse that burnt down about a year ago. The building was totally destroyed.

We were given an undertaking for building to commense by SA Eagle who were only "part insurers"  of the building, for their portion of the claim which was well over 6 million rands within 5 days of the claim been lodged.

The other part insurer was Outsurance, they disputed the claim on the grounds that their assessor claimed there was two or more appliances running off one plug outlet, which was specifically excluded in the insurance contract - the last I heard was the building owners (after 8 months of fighting) were taking Outsurance to court to try and get settlement - they had still paid ZIP.

So "yup" read the fine print.
