I noticed in the latest bicycle magazine an advert for a range of USN products aimed at "making you lean". You took something before your ride to boost endurance and burn fat, another product to put in your bottle during your ride, but you had to avoid taking carbs at the same time and then finally another product post ride. All were aimed at burning fat and getting that lean look.

When you walk into your local pharmacy that displays multitudes of these products, its rare that there is a sales assistant who can actually advise you on what to take and what can or wont work for you. Usually the sales assiatant has no proper training and cant offer correct info.

Sure we want to lean out and reduce unwanted fat but are these types of products the right way and do they actually improve performance.

LOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOL

Firstly, USN must be the biggest load of crap available. They are a marketing company, not a supplement compnay. Their products have a fraction of the good ingredients that work and are filled with sugars.

If you are serious about using supplements, do NOT use USN. Spend a little extra and go for Either EAS or Optimimum Nutrition. You get what you pay for.

Chunky.

What would the equivalent of Phedra cuts be for EAS or Optimum Nutrition?  (Do you perhaps know?)

I use Phedra Cuts and I find it works for me.  Question is, will the above two manufacturers be better at it with a similar product?

And then the big question.......getting the advice from you is good advice as you know your stuff.....but is it legal / WADA approved?  WinkLOL

Thanks! Thumbs%20Up

Then we should let all pharmacies in the Greater Jhb Metropole know not to sell any to the elders of the Asso 5!

Want to go lean, use water in your water bottle, after the third bonk, you should begin to lose weight.  If you are afraid of falling, then add a 8km run every day to your programme instead, without adding any extra food to your diet.

If it was easy everyone would be doing it.

Phedra Cut is a stimulant that has quite a lot of caffiene in it. That is what's makes you shaky if you are sensitive to these stimulants. It is essentially a thermogenic fat burner that assists the body to use it's fat reserves for energy. It also raises your heart rate that keeps your BMR up to help burn those extra few calories. The bodybuilders use it to cut down to their contest weight while on cutting diets. It will not miraculously help you get rid of your beer boep.

Best taken on an empty stomach with a glass of water.

To prevent lean muscle loss from endurance excercising, you should take a whey or protein supplement, or just eat enough protein (chicken breasts, tuna or lean beaf) after your workout. If you don't have too much bodyfat your body will start using muscle for energy.

Creatine is also a good muscle preserver and muscle builder.

Think of it this way: endurance athletes are lean and not very bulky, whereas shorter distance sprint athletes are more muscular, because they don't do endurance training and do HIIT (high intensity interval training).

The best way to build and keep lean muscle and lose the fat is to continue training hard, but 90% of it is in your diet: High protien, good quality carbs and low fat.

Question seconded.

I think ephedra used for dieting is legal out of competition.

Does Chunky charge in beer for consultations ?

I read in an article that water retention is the big problem with Creatine?

Creatine does retain water, but this helps in nitrogen being transported to the muscles. This helps the muscle build and recover quicker. All rugby players are on creatine, maybe that's why some of them cramp up LOL.

Creatine is probably the most well documented and researched suppliment out there, and to date there are no negative side effects.
