(what about:

Mavic Cosmic Carbone Ultimate 40mm 1185g

Easton EC90 Aero 60mm 1370g

Both around R10,000 cheape) - Quote

Ultimate Cosmic definitaly not R10k, almost same as Bora's. If you're going the Bora route, wait for the new 2009 models. Different logo's and ceramic bearings. Apparently cheaper as well

All things said and done....

Put R25k in my hand.....will I buy another set again?

No.

There are other options that is way more cheaper that will give you the same performance.

NOT THE SAME BLING but definitely the same, if not better performance.

Make sure you have the $$$ to sustain the continues loss of tyres on our beautiful SA roads.  One tubbie = R600.  And NO gue or sh*t you put in there will seal it.

In short:

If I have R25k in hand, I would save it up, have a look at the market in a year's time to see where the whole tubeless thing is going.

If all else fails, I would go for a set of these:

2009 models

Ultimate Cosmic definitaly not R10k, No they not - they're about R20,000, whereas the Bora's are about R30,000 almost same as Bora's. If you're going the Bora route, wait for the new 2009 models. Different logo's and ceramic bearings. Apparently cheaper as well

Cheaper- apparently, but the South African supplier/agent is unaware of this and has had no indication of this from Mavic

I had Eastons- stunning wheels and for their price probably the best value!

I had a set of Bora's- amazing wheels and there is a reason why there is a price difference between Eastons and the Bora's. If you get a good secondhand set, like the one's spidey was selling, buy them. If you want to spend R30K, dont buy them.

I now have Lightweight wheels- the best of them all! There is a reason the pro's are willing to pay fines to ride with these wheels. If that is what you want to spend, buy them!! You wont be sorry!

The mavic ultimates is too much of a Lightweight wheel ripp-off!!Wink

I have been on Clinchers for 2 months now.

Bought the Campy Shamals.  Not as bling as the boras but a LOT cheaper on maintenance. (Punctures)

And I am still up in front of the bunches.......Embarrassed

I would LOVE to try out the new Mavic SLRs......Approve
