What saddle would you sugget for a skinny assEmbarrassedLOL

I'm not all that well built and don't have much padding of my own on my butt. I have a Sella Italia SLR gelflow, but can't seem to sit comfortably on it and have to keep moving around on the saddle.

It is not the hardness of the saddle that bothers me, it's more the shape and fit.

The problem with testing a saddle is it feels great in the shop for 2 minutes but is  absolute " hell" after two hours on the road.

I always used Selle Italia and they were fine, but a few months ago I bought a Fizik Arione (I think - cant remember the name) and it was a "b*****d for two months, I almost threw it away and probably would have if I wasnt so lazy and its too a big hassle to take it off Big%20smile - but then one day it just started feeling better and better, now I think its really nice, I am real comfortable and I dont get numb.

Frankly, I dont think you can buy a saddle on a suggestion from here, if you cant ride one before you buy I think its a case of "hit and miss" until you get one you like.

Arione must rank as one of the most popular saddles. I ride one on my road bike and I really like it. Trouble is that it's damn expensive. I see Saddle Vader and Planet X have saddles that look suspiciously similar to Ariones and they are only R300. Jules2008-09-11 09:27:17

Will the Fizzik Arione be lighter than the Selle italia/ I'm looking for something lighter but at the same time want something that will fit better between my legs.

What is the RRP for the Fizzik Arione?

I ride an Arione - it is about 220g I think depending on make up of the rails. It does take time to mould to your butt. It is now selling for R1700 but you find them every now and again for sale here for around R900.

You need to visit these chaps or find someone who can do it in SA...

I have 4 bikes, all with different saddles...

My Arione still rates as the most comfortable, and i ride this one the most. However i have the Gobi on my MTB, and i just cant find it comfortable. Ive had it for 2 years, and just cant seem to get the same comfort that the Arione gives me. Even thought they are supposed to be the same shape??

Bought a San Marco Aspide Carbon (105g) last year, and this carbon 'plank' is honestly super comfortable. Ive ridden on it for 8 hour rides, and it was not uncomfortable for a second. Decent padding in the pants helps, but it just shows you that the shape of the saddle plays a huge part.

Finally i have just got a Sella Italia Flight Carbonio (the new shape flight with the carbon rails - advertized at 140g, actual 172g!). its a hard saddle, and im getting used to it. So far its nowhere near as comfortable as the Arione or the Aspide.

(BTW, im sure there was an Arione for sale on one of the threads yesterday for R500?)
