Rad go for the Xtr if you really like them because i think personally if you go for the one that looks better to you then you will enjoy riding them more personnally i would go for the XTR wheels for the bling factor but for overall longevity i would go for the XT wheels in the end its up to you smiley20.gif

Well the wheels will be going on my anthem so if I get XT I will have a full XT bike.... But maybe the XTR is the better buy??? I weigh 73kgs is it worth the R2500 extra????

If you have the R2500 extra IMHO yes. But it will be the start of the end for your XT group! LOL

I am, but why would it be any different to getting XT wheels?  Can you go CHEAPER and get a better lighter setup?  (No Chris King punts please..)

Why factory wheels?  I am thinking of getting some built by chainreactioncycles who will do the dirty work for me and I have my own custom bling!  Cheap as well!

I have crossmax slr's and have not had a days poblems with mine.

Had them for 2 years now racing and training on them and they are still very very true. i do put wd40 on the nipples often and turn the spokes/nipples every now and then.

They really are nice wheels. very stiff and very light.  I also have serviced the freehub myself (easy job takes about 5 mins) 3 times in the two years and it is still as smooth as butter.

That said i am looking to get a new pair of wheels to train on, and was thinking of the american classic hubs, ztr rims and revolution spokes.

anyone have bad experiences on the american classic hubs (bearings) or the ztr rims (burping tires, tires to avoid, bad rims etc..)

I bought my set of AC's secondhand and have done a couple of races on them and really impress with them!

I had a set of custom wheels before these, DT Swiss 240's hubs, DT Swiss Comp spokes and DT Swiss Rims, lasted about 2years before the rims were done.

As far as I can tell Factory wheels are just as good as my customs I had done at CRC.

Hope Pro II Hubs with DT Comp spokes and ZTR Olympic rims (with red alu nipples for good measure).

OK, the alu nipples dont add much for durability...
