November 2007 I went to UAE & bought US$ at R6.90 ............ today (a few min after 8:00am) it is already R9.12.

I am eyeing it very carefully. The moment it looks like dropping back I will transfer some of my US$$$$!!!!!! I want to buy a flat and a bakkie when I visit in November. This rise could be helping me a lot.
Let me know if you are interested in an Isuzu BigH.........can geet you a decent discount on a new vehicle or source an ex lease vehicle for you.

The rand is going up and down depending on what happens on Wall Street as the rand is the primary vehicle through which international investors express their risk-aversion ie:(a person not willing to take high risk) to emerging markets.

For example; when investors are pessimistic, they sell the rand,

and due to our high current account deficit, a low level of foreign exchange reserves, the heavy reliance on inflows and also the rand being one of the most highly traded currencies in the world.

all of this effects the volatility of the rand.
