Grey imports

This is the same like doping in cycling - push the limits as far as you can but stay just within the legal limits or dont get caught. This issue goes as far as my pocket. As long as I get good service good quality and good prices, they will have my support. The rest of the politics doesn't really matter.

I personaly feel they should confiscate all grey imports. It is just such a dowdy colour that it cannot possibly flatter modern day bling bikes. Well done to the fashion police for raiding CWCClap

Can I just remind you what was said at the "infamous" price fixing meeting where everybody came out as heroes......

Copied from the "so called inaccurate minutes" ........

"Wholesalers should supply less retailers (Be selective to whom they supply)
Overtime wholesalers will weed out unpopular retailers
You will be selling less units but your profit will increase "

HAS THE WEEDING OUT BEGUN???????????

Don't attempt to order Mavic spares with that serial number - I have the brand new, paid & incorrect spares in my garage...

I was loyal - but that was destroyed by bad service to a point where I will never use Mavic products again.  Thumbs%20Down (Not even if they are from CWC)

My issues was resolved at the end ja, but I'm so pissed off that the wheels is in the corner unused. I also feel the second hand value is reduced because of bad service reputation....

Guest colonel

Grey, yellow, orange or f**king pink imports. If the same product is cheaper at X than at Y I will go to X.

Serial numbers or not.

If I can get a grey  parallel import - then I would go for it if it was cheaper. For the same product made by the same people. WHats gonna happen after you moer off the bike ? Its broken anyway.

I dont believe monopolies are the correct way of a free market economy. How can a single point of entry own the market.

In SA most of us have been suckered into thinking that its the right thing.

Each day we are happy to pay more since its not a "parrallel" import, and it has the backup.

Bru we are in africa - if you are not looking after yourself, no one else will.

Yes sure thats why we all should also support the grey market importing clothes from the East . WTF cares if a snotnose 10 year old made them !! You people think I should rebuild a few Datsun in my garage and slap on a BMW sticker . Maybe not , thats not really greymarket now , is it ?

Im flying a kite here, but in line with what a few have said already, it appears that wheels without serial numbers may have been suspected to be fakes. This ties in with the fact that the other boxed wheels were not confiscated..

Just my supposition though..

If correct this action would be the same as the copyright holder/authorised rep of international brand asking the police to raid a flea market stall and confiscate fake Raybans/Oakleys/Rolex/Disney product etc.

Oustide of them being 'hot wheels', which I am not implying, the above scenario is the only one I can imagine that the police would be involved.

Just to remind everyone..

A grey product should really be described as a knockoff of the real thing.

A parallel product would be one imported by bypassing the official distributor for the country in question. The product would still be the genuine article though.

Could be that there was a SARS fiddle. Think it would be pretty hard to fake a Mavic wheelset, but who knows?
