_Daemon_ Posted December 11, 2006 Share Got a set on thursday, and did a quick test on them before a mtb night ride....hahaha could not stay on it for more than a couple of secs without grabbing at the wall to get my balance. Tried them on saterday again and after about 30 mins or so I managed to ride for 10 mins on them without coming off or loosing my balance. On sunday I could stay and ride on them with ease, still cannot reach for my water bottle, but riding is no problem, cannot believe how my balance improved in a weekends time on them....they are quite humbling, really showing me how much my pedal stroke sucks, hopefully this will improve in time while using the rollers. Max speed reached on them was just over 40km/h's.....quite exciting.
Thug Posted December 11, 2006 Share So how many scrape marks do you have down those passage walls ?
_Daemon_ Posted December 11, 2006 Share Screw the paint on the walls, I protected my bike from getting scratched on the evil wall!! Rather ask how my elbows look
pererace70 Posted December 11, 2006 Share Yeah, rollers are pretty funny when used the first time! I remember meeting my floor a few times the first night. But now I can go one handed, standing and very almost no hands (i think that's a bit of a dream though!). I also felt the difference quite soon after I started using them - I didn't use them for a while but now I've done 4 sessions in the last 3 weeks, this damn wind can keep me indoors sometimes! Max speed (on Wednesday): 65km/h although I feel that's a bit dangerous when facing a table

Mudsimus Posted December 11, 2006 Share Now when you've become quite fimiliar with the rollers....try bunny hoping off and on again. And do standing sprints..this will learn you to sprint in a straight line!

pererace70 Posted December 11, 2006 Share Mud dee, with regards to bunny hopping on and off: I favour life... Standing on the rollers is also a bit dodgy since there's no/very little load on the back wheel.
narra Posted December 11, 2006 Share Daemon. What did you buy ? Are the silentish ?
_Daemon_ Posted December 11, 2006 Share Daemon. What did you buy ? Are the silentish ? Bought TACX rollers, not that silent, but 100x more silent than my trainer and WAAY more fun. The drums on the rollers are plastic etc. Read on the net that th e metal ones are a lot more quite.
Mudsimus Posted December 12, 2006 Share I've seen one of our ex pro riders a few years ago bunny hopping from one roller to another without missing a stroke! One of my friends can wheelie his MTB on a roller! I feel quite confident on the rollers, but have never attemted this...

Dr. Seuss Posted December 12, 2006 Share ok - this bunny hopping thing sounded way cool so i went out and got myself a set of rollers seeing that everyone else around here is getting some lekker new toys for themselves. any advice so i don't end the coming season prematurely with a broken collarbone or wrist? (and yes - i know about the placing of the rollers in a doorway)
