bruce Posted December 12, 2006 Share Can anybody point me in the direction of some training rides in the Durban North Coast (Umhlanga Rocks) area over the Christmas/New Year period. I will be staying in Umhlanga, but I'm happy to ride into Durban to meet up. Looking for Tempo rides - 32km/h.

Dr. Seuss Posted December 12, 2006 Share Looking for Tempo rides - 32km/h. this is the same thing you said last wednesday & then the average was 35km/h until you turned off - you have to check the calibration on that ergomo! the women & children were still complaining about the pace on friday! i heard about some ride that starts in DBN at the location of some old restaurant - The Cattleman I think. Supposedly this ride goes from DBN beachfront to Umhlanga & back. if you there till about mid Jan there is a crit around the gateway shopping complex as well. Thanks, Sorry about last Wednesday I had installed new firmware on the Ergomo and didn't know that it had to be recalibrated. Was underreading by about 40 - 50 watts. I just thought my legs were a bit tired

MUNTU Posted December 12, 2006 Share Saturdays - 5am from suncoast casino to Ballito and back. 88km. most times a bit futher north or a hilly loop around ballito and back to give you 120km. Sundays often go South coast from Durban. I should be on leave for that week so PM me if you want to hook up.

I just thought my legs were a bit tired worked out OK for me - ended up doing two 34.5km/h rides in two days & ended up missing thursday in any case. PM me if you intend to "go long" again so i can come prepared with racing wheels / energy gels / cytomax etc! i will try and keep up with you & the mis-calibrated toy. read about the DBN / Umhlanga ride in the bicycling magazine - either this month's or the previous. Just had a look at the site, thanks - do the guys mind out-of-towners joining in (especially if they are Gauties ) Also, surely the A group doesn't ride at 25km/h? Things aren't that slow down there are they?

Phone the shop on 031 7641937 for more info.

I saw someone riding with a Phonak Shirt with one other rider. Seriously though, my average today was 32.5km/h. And today I was using a PowerTap which is very accurate - just ask Bikemax. Don't know where everyone disappeared to though. I had a brief chat with Oekie and when I got to Randburg everyone was gone?
