For the past 2 days you hubbers had to listen to me rant and rave about the fact that I blew(bonked) on a training ride. Even got to the point where I wanted to sell my cycling gear.

Then this afternoon I went for a walk just to clear my head and think about what I want to do.As I was walking along a few kids came past on their bikes all noisy and full of life and cheering at each other.

Then it struck me: You bloody chickensh*t pansie!! You bitch and moan about something that happens to the best riders in the world. They don't complain or bitch about it. They get on with the job at hand. You don't ride for a pro team or earn a living riding your bike. You ride the bike for the love of the sport and the enjoyment you get from it.You make friends and you see life at a level that other people will never understand or see unless they get on a bike with you.

Hell you even do the odd race or two to see if you can better yourself and maybe suck that strong riders wheel for a minute or more.

So to those who gave advice I not just say thank you I salute you for you are what this sport is all about and not the multimillion dollar pro teams or the doctors that help them cheat the system just for that 5 minutes of fame.

I will get back on my bike and enjoy it again like I used to. I will smile and cheer and make a noise as I ride along in my own world. I will wear lycra and shave my legs and chase that strong rider untill I puke all over my handlebar.

But most of all I will not get depressed about a bonk ever again.I will grow a backbone and face the hardtimes.

As the saying goes: If you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen---Well I say sod that---I will be the kitchen from now on!!!!!!!!!!!

I bonked once not knowing what hit me, didn't even know it was called bonk until I read a mag later that week. Then I got this warm feeling knowing that I bonked, so now I've got bragging rights & can say I've been there done that. sh*tty feeling but the experience was great, highly recommend it to every cyclist that hasn't experienced it before.

Glad to hear you'll be back on your bike OneTime.  Look at it this way - next time you're having a great day on your bike you'll be able to look back and realise just how great it is compared to the worst day you had recently.

Give it horns OneTime. Cycling is a love/hate thing, especially when some punk is putting down the hurt or you're what feels like a millions miles from home with an empty stomach, a flat tyre and nothing but road kill for lunch.

But if you think that's hate, wait til you see how much you'll hate NOT being a cyclist!

Don't worry dude, I'm sure most people need a bit of time to reflect

before putting on Lycra. Not always easy leaving the house looking

like a flaming homo   Christmas tree   sausage  erm, nevermind! Tongue
