Love the view from above.  The top tube looks stunning.  I would struggle to concentrate on the road because I'd be looking down too much!

those words turned out to be ... well, quite prophetic!! I will in future take more note of what you say  WH!! Wink

Hi Slowbee - that is my son's bike. He was on his way home from training, decided to do a last max effort and literally put his head down ... in the mean time, a honeymoon couple (!) pulled into the lane to check their GPS. He literally rode into them - no one saw the other party. It happened maybe 400m from a hospital, a doctor was right behind him and stopped immediately and stabilised his neck.

Xrays revealed no injuries, not even a broken rib!

He has 6 stiches and a bad abrasion where the helmet strap nearly choked him -- but thats it!

Fakes: Silverlining .. I don't think anybody should ride that bike ever again ...I think the carbon absorbed all the shock, maybe only visible once the paint is removed ... (so new bike, i suppose!)

Well, in that case I'd say just as well the bike (and the car, it would seem) took the hit and saved the rider. A quick (and painless) recovery, I hope, an ornament for the bike room, and a good story for the kids one day!

He is stiff and sore in his chest and neck area, but not any more than one would expect! Should be back on the bike as soon as he has one to be back on Wink

(re: bike  -- yip, insured, so that will help a little)

Hey Ronelle sorry to hear about your son's accident, I know he will recover soon.

I had a similar accident (hitting a VW combi at 35kph from behind nogal in a cycling lane) 9 years ago with my then Hansom 531 tubing bike and you would not believe it, but my front wheel was still true, my fork intact, the only problem was that the frame bent on the top and bottom tube near the headset. Also got off light with the injuries considering that I was not wearing a helmet, only a cutt in the neck where the shatterproof glass cut me when I got out from the combi's hatch.
