U cant take cycling too serious in SA, the money is not there, the best athletes in this country don't even go overseas to race, too risky to leave everything, they go study and get high earning jobs.

who cares what the rest of the world thinks of our local cape chaps, historically we have still produced most of the best rider this country has ever known...

all groomed thru our apparently "pathetic PPA league"

 

if we are not up to the grade now i think we still deserve a little consideration for our contributions in the past as well as a special "thank you" for at least making up the numbers in your "superior JHB races"

Classic chirp! Fact is the really top riders from the Cape come to JNB thereby depeting the talent pool. and okes like Moolies and Dave Garrett etc are talented riders. Of course they gonna do well. If PPA didn't make it so hard for JNB people to race in their precious races, I think more of us vaalpensies would get a better idea of the fact that it is quality racing going on down your end of the Karoo...

I gotta agree with GL here, the JHB Elite Pro's who really do consider themselves Pro's cause they are paid (even if you call R1500p/m payment) are getting smoked every weekend by Vets aswell ie: ML, Nic, Neil, Jock.

 

Makes JHB look ALOT kakker than CT to me.

We cyclists sure are funny people - we're already a minority and still we want to carve it up into Raleigh/Silverback versus Italian, MTB versus Road, Jhb versus Cape Town, Shimano versus Campag - no wonder cars run us down at will - we're too busy fighting amongst ourselves to stand up for our rights as "cyclists"...

.....so u agree then - the 'Elite /Wanna be' riders in the Cape are crap!? That is all I was trying to point out! They can't even finish a Pro/Elite race in JHB -  not even in 3 months time!
