I met GM when he was smaller than me, years ago. Am so glad he made it big. There are, what, 7,987,321,543 people on Earth? He is better than 7,987, 321, 542 of them at DH.

When you meet him, therefore, bask in the presence of SPECIAL!

Thanks DRBig%20smile. About our collective roadie brain cell- thank God for it, because it enables me now to get out on the road for a training ride- the temperature's cooled down to about 35!Nuke

who is Greg Minnaar?

some git who reckons he is gonna be in demand come tea-time or somethingConfused

so you better get there....ONLY between tea time!!!LOLWink

Wont fit in the velodrome... this twits big head will be taking up all the room...

Reserve judgement on the size of his head until you've met him. Couldn't find a more humble' date=' down-to-earth bloke if you tried... Seriously.

Don't get me wrong, I have utmost respect for Minaar and what he has achieved, I have heard he is a humble, decent bloke. What I find amusing is this thread of when and between what times you can get his autograph... Part of the charm of cycling as a sport is finding your heroes at events and getting their autographs. The point of it is that cyclists are accessible, even euro-pros. I just find it amusing that the organizers and Minaar choose this approach.

perhaps GM has got nothing to do with this scheduled signature session. he could just have agreed to race and do an autograph session and the organiser, worried about thousands of fans and stalkers, issued this time slot, GM knowing about nothing.

Its all about exposure, if GM wants to keep his sponsors he needs publicity and exposure so he should be doing these kind events/signings for his sponsors.

The more people there asking for a signature or chatting to the guy = more eyes on him and his brands = happy sponsors.

Good for him, good for the sport.

Greg knows about the scheduled session of signing autographs . For the sake of making things easy for everyone it was scheduled for a specific time period so that we dont have loads of people trying to run accross the cycling track . Also bear in mind that Greg is new to the track and needs to concentrate on his warm up etc and focus on the racing . There were no other motives behind scheduling a time slot other than safety issues and common sense .

I've seen a U tube clip of Greg riding, the man is scared when he cycles downhill, over the big drops he says...WHOAAA(helmet cam) , seems like fear is your friend when you're the DH champ of the world, then again I must say, i'm not that scared but then again I haven't wiped out at 70km/hour off road yet!
