Okay' date=' on this subject. Does a claim affect your premium like with normal insurance? I've never claimed in 6 years and could have bought a new bike by now.

No it should not, that is if you insure with a reputable company.

Cyclesure

Bliksempie cracked his Fondriest on the chainstays in June took the bike to fred at Cyclesure and ON THE WAY HOME,  within 5 min the claim was approved and Bliksempie had his new 'Dale.

Always had good feedback from Anny and Chanelle.

I have no qualms in promoting their company for good service

I insured my bike with my household insurer.

Indwe Risk Services.

Underwritten by Santam, I wrote off my car last year and they paid me out retail!

They have just added an Incycle product.

R50k bike insured at R260 per month. that's over R100 cheaper than pedalcare  and Cyclesure.

Hey that's not bad

Maybe mine was expensive cos of extra wheels and helmet and shoes and all the other junk, computer and stuff...

I just lumped it all together on my bike and insured it all risks.

Disclaimer: Most insurance companies will only insure bikes subject to you taking out household insurance cover.

Try MyCarCover.co.za site for bicycle insurance quotes from Outsurance and Dial Direct, amongst others. I am personally insured for household and out and about cover with outsurance, and am very happy with my bicycle insurance policy.

From the moment I joined Outsurance i have just had K@K.  This is a excerpt from the letter I received from Outsurance informing me that they weren't going to entertain my stolen bike claim

During the validation of your claim it was discovered

that there were no signs of forced entry to the vehicle and the item was not

kept in a cubby hole.  For the above

mentioned reasons we have no alternative but to reject your claim..."

Not even Macgyver could get a bike in a cubby hole. For all the kids out there, Macgyver was like Harry Potter but an 80's version...

My Bibbs were Assos' date=' so the excess of R250 does not come close to the plus R3k they are going for now...pansie!!

And no, I've had to claim at least once a year and the premium has not gone up except for the yearly increase as with any insurance. They will how ever increase for excess if you claim a few times during the same year.

Mampara, your premiums subsidise Marius' upgrades. That's how insurance works.Lamp

I must say that my experience of OutSurance has been great. I've had a in competition claim after a crash and they where very professional and helpful in dealing with the claim. The assessor definitely went the extra mile on more than one occasion. They even replaced my bib that was ripped in the crash.

They where also quite upfront about their limitations of covering a bike stolen from a car.

Only down side to Cyclesure is there new form requires you to DRAW a picture of how you damage happend...this can lead to some pretty funny drawings. I was sneaky enough to get Velouria to send me his claim form for a new R.D after he hit it on a rock at the Rock Pedal Classic race..
