The roads were built originally for vehicles and the yellow lane is not a cycle lane.

Exactly. High time cyclists realise this and claim their rightful place in the middle of the lane as recognised vehicles on the roads. Thanks for pointing this fact out.

See this thread hit a nerve, excellent. I take it this may have hit a little close to home.

Oh by the way by no means do I say that motorists are the picture of perfection, but they won't die when they hit us. As a cyclist or motorbike rider it is accepted that you are at the mercy of other road users. That is why as one of these individuals you should be alert and try your best to minimise the risk of being a victim. But sure if you think someone going to court to prosecute the guy who squashed you possibly illegally will bring you back to life, well great.

Oh, you sorry little weasel. Please PM me or post here the details of your car. I am certain I can find plenty of fellow motorcycle riders you can attempt to exercise your mercy over. Twit.

Alas threads like this I suspect will be ignored by those who know they are in the wrong or they will simply take offence. However until cyclist take a bit of responsiblilty on the roads I think such "bitching sessions" need to continue.

And for as long as the Hub has been active it has been posted and will be for the next 2 lifetimes.....

FUN...........ClapClapClap

The roads were built originally for vehicles

And hopefully will die a slow death when the earth runs out of oil or it becomes to expensive to "fill her up".....can't wait......Big%20smile

and the yellow lane is not a cycle lane. We simply make use of it and hope that if we behave we won't be squashed.

You have that right.......SA law states you as a cyclist is NOT allowed to cycle in the yellow lane.....you must cycle RIGHT of the yellow lane..........and the motorist passing you in his car MUST GIVE YOU 1.5m GAP.......mmmmmmm.............

Problem with cycling on the RIGHT side of the yellow lane is I keep on getting passed by Taxis at 80km/h on the left hand side......Ouch

However until cycling cleans up its act there will be road rage and in many cases the curtious cyclists [pick one below] will pay for the sins of the arrogant/ignorant.

pedestrians' date=' motorists, donkeys, dogs, cats and small birds....

Wow you've missed the plot TNT1 (by mercy I mean idiots in huge vehicles don't see you or don't want to see you and you take the brunt of it), as mentioned it is all good and well to try excersise vengance on someone who squashed your cycle buddy or a fellow motorcyclist but that won't undo the damage the incident caused. You're missing the plot, I am not advocating squashing motorcyclists or cyclists, I am advocating changing the perception of cyclists.

But I have said enough and to those who can see the logic great to those who can't continue on your merry way.

My husband informs me that these kind of threads are frequent on the Hub. I apologise. I wasn't aware that complaining about other cyclists conduct was such a hot and touchy topic.

I don't really spend that much time on the Hub - I'm too busy keeping the economy of the <?: prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Western Cape going n the absence of Spinnekop, Big H and all the other ?foreigners? who keep the coffers here topped up.

But please - you guys (even if you do drive a BMW) are always welcome down here - we do need your money - but please keep the visits short (and stop at red lights) - I'd hate our economy to improve too much - then not only would my view of the mountain be obscured - so would my view of the sea - and that spare parking bay would have to go - wouldn't be able to afford it.

Spinnekop - I hope today goes better for you.

Yours in cycling....<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

last i checked, you had to live in gauteng to be considered a gautenger.

i still think they should put up a border post on the N7, N1 and N2 incoming and require a passport and visa to enter the cape. you howtengers do nothing except make the cape a horrible place to be over xmas and new years.

thank goodness the howtengers dont know about secret season in feb-march. the wind doesnt blow and it is HOT (35 degrees) every day. December is generally a crappy time of year weatherwise and yet the howtengers still flock here in their droves.

I suppose when you are desperate to escape the hole that is howteng, anything (even angola) is better
