One word: Fizik.

?

Two words: Dishonest Advice.

?

Telling someone that this or that saddle is the right one is like Reverend Moon choosing a wife for you and marrying you in a mass ceremony in Seol.

?

Saddles are highly personal and what works for you won't work for Joe.

?

?

My (humble?) opinion, was waiting to be shot down smiley2.gif

And I'm a bloke, so Rev. Moon *hopefully* wouldn't want me anyway...

Go to a Specialized dealer and ask them to fit you' date=' they use an "Assometer" to determine which saddle is best for your size bum bones.

Seriously!

very true that "assometer" is the best thing since sliced breadWink

Try Try Try

I've got a couple of 'rejects' from my trying which you are welcome to test out. P.M me and we can make a plan.

I did finally settle on a Fizik Gobi though.

Perhaps JB would be interested in expanding his business into butt fitting?<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Thanks SV, but I left corporate life 'cause of the asses there, now you want me to pander to them with a measuring tape and a vernier. No thank you.

I would really like to try out a Gobi, everyone that owns one rave about them, the thing I don't get is way they have to cost 2k, why are saddles so expensive?

LOL

In theory it sounds like a good plan to get a custom made saddle, I will try it out sometime before spring... anyone comes near my butt with a vernier and I'm going lock it wide open before stuffing it down their gullet.

I had good luck with the Specialized Toupe in 143mm. The Sella Italia i had was way too narrow for my butt. Why not try the Specialized butt measurement thing, Cycles Direct in Parklands do it, not sure where else.

Dude, I've ridden Rolls, Turbo, Flight, SLR, Gel Flow, Genuine Gel, Arionne, Gobi and Concor ...my mates have ridden the same if not more...(in white and lots of colours:) )

Loved the Arione, really rate it. Didn't Like the SLR (any model) but my Tandem partner swears by it. Truth, go find a saddle that works...

I ride a Carbon Railed Flight on the Road (after riding a Arionne for two seasons, but jeez those saddles are expensive now:( ), A Geniune Gel Flight on the Tandem and a Gobi on the MTB.

Got a spare Flight in the Cupboard and a Pantani LTD Flight just cause it's so cool...comfortable hunting.

101SCC i am jealous hahaha i want that pantani flite!!!!!!!

but seriously though i have ridden on the SLR and the flite and also been chowed by the arione and munched by the gobi i also have ridden the san marco concor and loved it (had to give it back smiley6.gif

i currently ride a flite and i wont trade it for anything other than an SLR weird i know seeing as the one has a hammock shape and the other is a plank but funny enough these are the only two saddles other than the concor that i dont have issues with

it really is a trial and error situation and unfortunately your @$$ doesnt always like what your budget can afford!!!!!

No Problems. I am 80kg and Ride a Carbon Railed Selle Italia. The only issue I had was replacing the clamp on my alien seatpost because Selle Italia changed the shape and size of all their rails.

But strength is no issue.

You are all missing the biggest deciding factor. Look what the pros are using and use that. Who cares if it's uncomfortable. If it's good enough for LA then it should be good enough for everybody on the planet.

The problem I find with choosing a saddle is it takes time for your body to get used to. (mine in any case)

Got a Selle Italia SLR Ti and first week or 2 was average comfort but nothing longer than 2 hours please

After 2 weeks or so, well let's just say this saddle was made for my butt - even 6 hour rides (contrary to popular believe that "race saddles" only work for short rides)

Did a ride reasently on my previous very comfy saddle (Selle San Marco Aspide) and just could not get comfortable

PS Decent bike shops carry demo saddles to try - but normally only for high end brand names
