I did a scouting trip of Groenies yesterday and was amazed at how much the route has changed in just one month.

The river/root section after the short steep semi-tar downhill is not rider-friendly anymore. The water is quite deep and the little island is covered in high plants that made us itch afterwards. We tried to get into the forested singletrack via another route only to find that the entrance area has many big rocks and moss-covered soil. I won't be taking the beginner/slow group along this route as the risk of someone falling is too high.

There used to be a mini waterfall halfway up the uphill that faces Botha Avenue. They have now covered it up and there is a big sign which says that it is sinkhole territory and that you should not pass that point. We cycled across it as I think that it refers to cars...or at least I hope it did!

We saw 4 giraffe (1 very cute baby one), 3 ostrich, impala during our short ride.

Nancy, I'm leading the novice/slow group. The route I have planned has an escape route at about 4kms in which will give you a 6km ride in total. The 2kms back is all on a slight downhill and it leads straight to the car park so you can't get lost either. The total ascent for the 6kms is only 70m. I'm sure your 6 year old will be able to cope with the route I have planned. We will be going very slowly and stopping often to look at the animals and catch our breath etc

Daemon, this is the potential route for Nancy's 6 year old and not the whole Hub ride.

Please add Mrs. Hog to the list. We'll do the short route and the braai afterwards.

cool. will be nice to meet her.

Careful though, she's not a morning person, she'll be tired after the 6km ride, and she's been known to get violent with drunk east-randers hitting on her.
