bikemonster Posted February 26, 2007 Share CSC withdrew Basso from the TdF immediately but he remained on the team roster.
widget Posted February 26, 2007 Share CSC NEVER fired Basso, he was suspended after the scandal broke but NEVER fired - eventually leaving with mutual agreement. I believe CSC is a great team ,but they protected Basso unduly, T-MOBILE to their great credit took a stance, gave Jan an ultimatum and when he declined they fired him. Evan Andreou Posted February 26, 2007 Share Auf Wiedersehn Herr Kaiser Whatever you say, Jan gave us some of the most memorable TDF moments ever, his epic struggles to get one over Lance is what first drew me to cycling. I don't care whether he is guilty or not (a real pity that proof will probably never be forthcoming now); I just want to say so long and thanks for all the fish
nellie Posted February 26, 2007 Share I miss the big guy already! I've always been a LA fan, so used to scream for the USPS/Discovery team and not T-Mobile, but Jan was a great guy, an excellent athlete and just one of those people who made watching the races exciting. Damn, i really hoped that he'd get into pro cycling again...another less exciting TDF coming up.

widget Posted February 27, 2007 Share I don't care whether he is guilty or not (a real pity that proof will probably never be forthcoming now ................there is still a good chance the public will know the whole story wolverine - unlike some other cases of doping cyclists which I believe are covered up, convoluted and hiden under mounds of paperwork by highly paid solicitors, this case has been referred to the criminal court in Spain where a trial will begin in June - so if any new evidence arises it will certainly be made public.
