Ok, I know there have been several topics on this in the past, but seriously, what the focl is up with supersport and supercycling?

So, the mistake I made was watching a bit of stoopidcycling and then got caught out with having to suffer through the idiocy of twit and twat commentating on the Fleche. WTF?

Ok, so stoopid cycling.... Who the hell is that show aimed at? I see the producers/on air "talent" have no clue, so in the absence of that, they are out to promote whatever they can to get some money. Did they really need to have a "sports dietician" on to say: " you must carboload with carbohydrates".... that was absolute genius... saved me from using amino acids to carboload....

For me it is an absolute shame that McLean has chosen to sell out the way he has. Don't misunderstand me, all credit to him for building his business on his cycling succcess and passion, but really, after all the sportr has given him, it is truly dis-heartening to see that his only goal on stoopidcycling appears to get viewers to buy something. If you have to sell your soul, does it have to be on the alter of rampant consumerism?

And that leads us on to the absolute farce that was so-called commentary during one of the monuments of this sport. On the basis of yesterday's coverage, my wife is now truly distressed at the thought of me going on group rides. Too many references by twit and twat to being "sucked in the bunch" and "blown out the back" have led her to believe that cycling with other riders is a mass homosexual orgy.

And then twit said that riders were taking up mgudgels to put nails in coffins with flurries of riders. It was like listening to commentary in portuguese. No, wait, a foreing language would have been more intelligible.

It is not surprising that motorists are so willing to drive over us. Look at how the sport is presented. And if that isn't bad enough, that random bs off the CSA website regarding those poor track cyclists, it's no wonder thet rest of society see us as mildly retarded bottom feeders who should be eradicated.

Till after lunch, when I will propose a solution. spot you later, screeming queens...

Ha,Ha,Ha, - I seldom watch the show, personally I think the commentary and programming is infantile, the music is irritating and too loud and the show is generally aimed at 16 year old kids, - as I prefer more mature programmes I dont bother with it.

..........But honestly TNT when I occassionally did PVR it and watch the hour in 4 minutes with my finger on Fast Forward, it was already all about trying to sell you something, usually using "scare tactics" like "when you fall, you want the best protection", Ummm, heres a newsflash, I dont want to fall, or the three of them twittering away about how "the cycling industry is just going from strength to strength" which, as we recently found out is a load of codswallop anyway.

Seems nothings changed hey.!

Even worse was......

Andrew called Chrotoph Morouqe (spelling), Francois Morouqe for like 10mins....

I am shocked..... the guy is in a break away for almost the whole day and then he calls him the wrong name......

and Arnie is to stupid to realise that he is wrong.....

Really like to watch international races and yesterday I was so happy to be able to have a off day and watch the race. I was so unhappy when I heard Arno 's voice - I mean - Its just not half of Phill L voice - and apart form the sound the content differs a lot.

Watched the race - was happy that it was broadcasted  and at least with English commentary. What these guys commentated was just shocking - it was like reading and saying it out loud. Nothing they said couldn't bee seen on tv. Shocking - so useless. Would rather prefer french then - the commentators at least sound interesting and excited.

Was glad SS broadcasted the event, but if one of the commentators cant undersstand and translate french or italian then there is no use for commentators babeling on about how a bunch works and how slipstream / feedzones / teamtactics / name it works.

I mean the ppl who watches a random midweek race like that - knows most of the basics and more - this is not the tour where random non cyclist watch and need some extra info on the highligh show.

Really guys (Arno and Andrew) - WTF ? Learn something beforehand about the race and the area and create your own interesting show...

I must say....I do watch Supercycling from time to time occationally there is something on to watch...

So in great anticipation I watched Tuesday night's show and must add that I'm terribly dissapointed that there wasn't more made out of the Darryl Impy/Theo Bos incident, besides Andrew's explanation of what he thought might have happened.

They should have tried HARDER to obtain the footage of the incident....that is what a cycling show is for !! It doesn't have to be "Jerry Springer" like...but when there is  controversy....air it !!

I have to agree with this...

The program reporting about the MTB Nationals was a disgrace and not only frustrating... but BORING...

We have a Worldcup here... with Nationals on the same course a week before... but they show a boring road race in the Cape... then waste 2/3s of the time talking boring sh*t and when they finally come to the MTB Nationals... they focus on the overseas riders who came early for the WC...

Nationals should have been about OUR riders, we don't care about world champions and European pro's riding the national cup...

We want to see cycling and are tired of being bored stiff with stupid chit chat...

yes dumb and dumber's commentary was up to its usual standard:

"here we have 4 riders off the front, mmmm, one has a red jersey on, it could be a rider from MR Price. Andrew, why don't you explain to the viewers why these riders are wearing helmets."

all we were missing was Owen's insightful thoughts.

I enjoyed the coverage yesterday, and like its been mentioned its fantastic that we do have the chance to watch the classics live.

I know it cant be easy commentating on riders you have never seen before, but why not get Phil & Paul's commentary like they did for Paris Roubaix? Surely it was available? Or even that new Aussie guy they use in the TDF now?

I'm gratefull we have cycling shows, but maybe it does need a revamp. I had the privilige of working alongside Owen and Aubrey at the Junior Worlds in Cape Town last year, and boy was I shocked to see how much work was put in by those guys. Owen was always the first one there, and always the last to leave. What I thought was an easy job turned out to be flipping hard work by them.

When is that "Pedal Talk" on? I've never managed to see an episode...

About 2:30 on a Sunday with Jonny Koen. Almost always forget to catch it and its usually only about 20 minutes - pity as I always enjoy it.

My 2c worth:

When viewing the "local sport show's" there's just nothing there that "grabs me" - I'm not focused and I'm bored out of my wits.

However I never watch S/Cycling , local soccer as it's boring & class less , local cricket &/or Rugby -- all these does nothing for me. The commentary U mention here was everything it should not have been & drove me back to the yard for chores.

I don't see myself wasting valuable time listening to local commentary & watching something that add's no value except the pictures & cyclists themselves on the European circuit.

One would think Andrew M has "so much knowledge" on cycling (he might have) that he'll make a spectacular Commentator, like Naas on Boots & all ... just I don't see how they "captivate an audience". Take Phil & Paul or Sports Centre ----- now they grab me & I enjoy watching.

All Andrew requires is a Vuvuzela
