Beware,  I did the Ghetto Tubeless on my WTB Prowler non UST tires last August.  Both of them deteriorated and failed.  20090423_010407_t1.jpg20090423_010439_t2.jpg

Kenda Karma DTC sits very tightly on the rim and works great with diy tubeless... at 450g it's light and fast...

It punctures easily but I've never had a problem with mine.

My fav front tyre is Spez Fast Trak dual compound... real 2.0 and 460g

My fav back tyre is small block 8 1.9 DTC - 420g and Python Air light 2.0 - 500g... rarely have problems with these and I plugged the sidewall on the Python a while ago and it's still fine...

What sealant did you use?

There seems to be a problem with latex based sealants causing tyres to delaminate.  So use a water based sealant instead.

Bought a Maxxis Monorail the other day, and it had a sticker on the packaging to the effect of they will not accept warranty claims for tyres that have been used with a latex based sealant.  This was for a UST tyre.

Maybe the solvent that keeps the latex in a liquid form also liquifies bits of the tyre. Dead

Joe's super sealant has an amonia free sealant out now....... think its the amonia that causes the tire faliures..... but dont quoye me on it... its just a guess.......

Really, Is it avalable locally? Im 99% sure its the amonia- I meen It is a chemical-and potent to add..

I think its a good guess mtbking

I need to get this ASAP before I wreak my tires!!

I have been using OK sealant - BOS1000 impossible to get in Western Cape yet - but it is superb. Raced last week in breede river have over 30 thorns in each tyre - not a worry!

no ammonia and it does not dry out like stans does. Not sure how well it will work for conversions though? as it is does not dry in the same way that stans does

I been running Karma 1.9 Tubeless for a years, no problems, mixture of Stans and Joes in them.

I have also used the smallblock 8 tubeless ready tyre for a year with no issues.

Maxxis Mimo - non ust - problems, for also more than a year.

Apparently in the past the Stans stuff, had ammonia in. The last bottle I bought had an ammonia free sticker on it...in Vancouver
