Spinnekop Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 So........I am undecided......Thought I would get some "expert opinions" on this one..... These wheels will be used every day. Racing and training. The Planet X wheels definitely have the edge on looks. I think deep section wheels looks pretty on a bike. They are clinchers and thus will work for every day. Drawbacks compared to the Shamals.......they are 300g heavier. The hubs are not the best on the market. It is a fairly unknown wheels with not a lot of pedigree behind them.Did I mention they look the bees knees? http://www.peugeotpartscatalogue.co.uk/images/pro50-1.jpg OR Good old trusty Campag. Smooth bearings. Light. Good climbing wheel. But then.......there are not really big climbs in SA races......or in training....so why care? They have VERY good backup. Looks are not bad but nothing compared to a nice deep section wheel. Aerodynamic wise they loose hands down to a deep section wheel where, if I had to take a swag at it, they would use up about 5-10 watt per hour more than the deep section wheel...... http://www.wiggle.co.uk/images/campy-shamel-zoom.jpg Use both wheels? I don't have the budget and I live by the rule to ride EVERY ride a on the best I have. Makes the ride more pleasurable, yes? And oh yes.....both wheels cost about the same..... So....spoeg uit....wat reken die kenner?
spano Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 think about what would happen when you hit a pothole on a training ride with the carbon wheels or with the campag wheels?
Overlord Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 Spinnejaanboppekop-----Deep Sections!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Famba Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 The Deepness all the way!!! They're all business.. Famba2009-05-06 00:17:36

funrider Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 Shamal's, no doubt about it! It's probably the best wheels I've ever had
2 X 2 Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 Ag nee man, daai Shamals se voor en agter wiel lyk nie eens dieselfde nie, dit lyk soos twee verskillende modelle. Die Planet X wiele is baie meer bling
Spinnekop Posted May 6, 2009 Author Posted May 6, 2009 Ag nee man' date=' daai Shamals se voor en agter wiel lyk nie eens dieselfde nie, dit lyk soos twee verskillende modelle. [/quote'] True.Maar dit maak van hom 'n BAIE sterk wiel.....on breekbaar en sal nie flex nie...... Die Planet X wiele is baie meer bling Stem saam......
Mudsimus Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 Ek het dieselfde hubs as die planet x op my wiele. Hulle loop soos n jet..niks fout met hulle nie.
Sammajoor Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 Kop..... koop die Deepsections..... dink net hoe gaan Hanasie bitch as hy jou fietsie sien.....sammajoor2009-05-06 05:31:43
AndreZA Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 I would say the Planet-X but seeing that you want to use them as everyday wheels I would say the Campags. The reason, the breaking surface. You long will the carbon surface last with all the dust and then some rain in the summer.
Spinnekop Posted May 6, 2009 Author Posted May 6, 2009 why are you asking us? You already made up your mind No I have not.

And yes....the carbon breaking surface has its issues.......breaking is not as affective as with alu. Surface durability?.......mmm......I know guys that rides every day with their Zipps/Boras......But do they train that much?
