SRAM cassettes work fine with shimano RD's, so I don't see why it should be a problem. The spacing as the same on both.

Mark, you talking MTB ?

If MTB, don't think you'd have a problem. I used to run a SRAM cassette on a Shimano drivetrain but have never tried the other way around.

Also got a SRAM cassette on Shimano drivetrain. PG970 cassette with Shimano XT. works fine, actually is lasting quite a while now already...

Sorry I forgot there is that other side to cycling. Embarrassed My question is MTB related, specifically XT cassette with SRAM X.7 or X.9 shifters and RD.

The only thing you can't do is mix shifters and rear mechs.
Sram 1:1
Shimano 2:1

Is that both Front and Rear?

I'm looking to get the best 'fit' front derailleur on my 29er MTB so could go either:

SRAM X.9 Trigger sh*ters with an 09 XT front derailleur

or

XT Trigger Shifters with SRAM X.9 front derailleur

(I obviously haven't mentioned the other comdinations X.9 to X.9 and XT to XT - they will obviously work)
