I'm being contacted at least a couple times a week by people wanting to sell me funeral policies, investment sh*t or cellphone contracts.  WHERE DO THEY GET MY NUMBER and how can a person remove yourself from that list? I do not like to be rude to these people but donner they are really pissing me off.

Just tell them you ain't interested even before they get a chance to explain what they are trying to sell you, kind of leaves them speechless.

Thnx holy - cant you rather give it to hot girls/your mom?

I ususally just tell them I'm not interested then the asks questions like why not and so forth. This one just know just started asking questions about my health!

And postal addresses. When I moved, Truworths captured my address the wrong way around, postal as physical. Not long after that I received junk mail delivered to my door. So I know for a fact where they got.

Once your number ends on a database, you've had it. What I did find out is that these databases are shared and you are rated. The higher your score, the more calls you get.

The scoreing works along the lines of a point for:

Answering your phone (x out of x times)

Do you let them introduce themselves

Do you let them introduce the product

Do you let them finish the sales pitch

...

So the longer you stay on the call, the higher your score and the more calls you will get as you are marked as a good lead.

What I do is confirm that it is sales pitch in a nice way and then I put my phone on the table without hanging up. Do it a few times and my calls dropped to near zero.

There are people that makes a lot of money selling lists with your contact information on it to various companies . How do they get it ? No clue !

Then we must to it as well. You get a product and i'll get a telephone book!

Forgot to ad, they then phone me back a few minutes apologising that "we" got cut off and thats when I reply: "No, it was actually me putting my phone down on my table and waiting to see how long you realised that you where talking to yourself."

And then I repeat the process. Gets fun after the 3rd call LOL

Easy

A million ways

EG you take your car in for a service and put your contact numbers on the service sheet.

2 days later the nice lady phones to find out if you are happy. Not from the garage but from a call centre.Hey presto everyone has it now.

do what I usally do....if I get a call that doesn't have caller ID (name or number) and says "unknown" or "private call"....I IGNORE IT....press the red button....do not answer....if it is important, the caller will leave a message which I'll then phone back...end of story !!Angry

My calls seem to come in waves. A couple of months of nothing, then a week or two of calls every day, then a few months of nothing again.

Asking to speak to a supervisor will more often than not end in a disconnected call - from their side.
