Just an update on how things are go?ng. Last night and today hasn't been good. He was in a lot of pain and discomfort. He aparently did not like the nurse feeding him (or maybe the foodWink)' date=' because he hit her hand away.
The dr. also isn't happy with him not getting enough rest - so he is now being kept mostly sedated.

Oi, I know what its like, when I had a lumbar fusion I was immobile for only two weeks and then couldnt sit for another 6 weeks, only stand or lie down.

It was awefull, time drags, you feel so helpless and soon all sorts of negative things start going through your mind, why me....., if only........, I should never have........, - it takes a long time to come to terms spokes, he will need a lot of patience and care, my wife got me a councillor to help me settle my mind, perhaps its something you can discuss with him / his wife.?

Thanks for keeping us updated Riaan.... isn't it lovely to see so many great people on the hub? One just hopes that the pain starts to subside, and  WW begins to feel more comfortable.  Be strong WW x x

you'e so right Porky. His body is going though the shock fase coupled with frustration, I think. As soon as his body starts healing and the time-factor kicks in, that is when he will have to be kept possitive. Thank you for the good advise. That is something I will discuss with his family.

By the sounds of it you have fully recovered!?

A message from WW's bed this afternoon "To each and everyone who made any contribution or comment or shown any support, thank you very much.  I havent been able to read any of them but by all account youre support has been brilliant!!!  Hopefully within the next couple of days my wife and doctor would allow me to put my hands on my laptop and take a look at all the posts.  (that's if he is awake Wink)"

"Still battling to get used to lying on my back permanently and keeping all the staff and family busy trying to keep me still.  Tomorrow inot the theatre for opp on elbow."

Yes, 100% recovered, thanks. Obviously, I am not a doctor and dont presume to know the extent of the injury, but these injuries from what I was told by the neurosurgeon are very successfully treated.

I am almost 100% sure he will make a full recovery.

I am horrified to read about this crash - haven't been on thehub for a week. WW, heal up soon, i'm thinking of you and the whole family.

i'll def be adding a bit to the fund on payday.

please keep us informed as time goes as to financial status of the fund - there are going to be major ongoing costs of physio etc.

Hi Francois

Don't know you but obviously you have a lot on friends here on the Hub.

Although life has thrown this big curve ball at you, you were living it the way it should be lived. The way we all should live it.

You have fallen but will get up and add to the score Francois +1, Apathy 0.

Good luck in your recovery, hopefully we will get to meet out on the bike sometime when the time is right.

LiveSTRONG!

Cheers

Dave
