mmm, not too sure here. i still think it's CycleArt's fault if there are finger-prints in the paintwork. that couldn't happen to a dry frame.

why not post pictures and we can then decide who's in the wrong

well someone's obviously lying.

Either cycleart stuffed up, which is contrary to their word given here, or the LBS stuffed up the bike since it was sitting with them for so long, and they tried to patch repair it, but ended up leaving evidence behind of their attempts. I reckon, have the fingerprint taken by a cop buddy, or the cops, as it's evidence and threaten to have everyone involved tested. Might just jolt a memory or two.

We are really sorry here at Cycle Art that you are unhappy with our work but when we delivered your frame to your LBS there was not a mark on the paint' date=' no scratches or chips, we would not compromise our good name by delivering shoddy work, so please take that aspect up with your LBS.  We delivered your frame in February and only received a complaint after Easter from your LBS who phoned us to tell us that the frame was in a "bloody mess" and we were to come and get and fix it.  Well, as the problem clearly lies with them, they should have brought the frame to us for inspection which they didn't.  We charged you R1650,00 for the respray plus R200,00 collection/delivery charges which is a nominal fee and we don't think this is too much for the work we did, the frame was old and shabby and after the respray it looked very nice indeed!  Some weeks after delivery, I returned to the shop to collect the outstanding balance in person and nothing was said to me, there were no complaints and I was not asked to take the frame with me.   Why wait until after Easter to phone us?  Where was the frame until then?  You are most welcome to bring the frame to us and let's see what we can do for you. I have dealt with CycleAret before and they are the BESTSmileSmileSmile.  They are proffesional, their work is outstanding and they don't comprimise (I was in a hurry for my frame but Cliff "refused" to let the frame go before it was completly dry).

I will recomend them to anybody over and over again.  I think it is clear from their post that they are indeed proffesional and is willing to help.  WE NEED MORE SUPPLIERS IN THE BICYCLE INDUSTRY WITH THEIR ATTITUDE!!!!!!!

******Here comes a moan - so don't read if you are in a good mood********

As for any LBS I don't trust them - AT ALL - to many BS stories, tech. mishaps and and and and  - O yeah, Good cyclist doesn't ness. make good sales peolpe or techs.Shocked

Well, if I comment I will either be asked to not talk about it or the buyer of my frame will want his money back. Let just say my job looked nice from a distance but on close inspection you can see it is not on par. Or maybe my standards are just a bit higher then others. And I'm still waiting for reply to what is gonna be done about it. Last correspondence was 19/03 with the opening line "I will contact you again as soon as I?ve had a good look at the pictures...". It does not matter now as I have sold the frame.

I have also seen some of Cycleart's work on Spinnekop and Cruxpearl's bikes and I agree it is awesome work! However I think they messed up here!

If there is fingerprints on the paintjob it can only mean that it was done either directly after the frame was painted or they delivered a wet frame to the LBS. Cactus is not complaining about scratches or marks on the frame, he is complaining about fingerprints. The LBS is not supposed to leave fingerprints on the frame, unless Cycleart delivered a wet frame to the LBS.

So Cycleart might deliver great work in most of the cases, but in this case and in Mampara's case I doubt if their work was up to scratch!!!

Other scenario......................  Cycle Art delivered the frame.......... someone in the LBS dinged the frame and quickly sent it to a mate for a touch up and this is where it all went south.

And someone does not have the balls to own up that they screwed

I've never heard ppl defend a shop/supplier so strongly... Is it not possible that Cycle Art do great work 99% of the time and (just like everyone else!) slip up on occasion. Nobody is saying they haven't done great work in the past, or will continue to do it in the future, but that they may possibly have made a mistake on this frame and should do something about it (as offered in their post).

I agree with you shaun123. The only thing is I see Cycleart offers to do something about the frame at a price!!

Ok, I missed the part about offering a quote... At least have a look and try and establish what the possible cause is first before just shifting the blame... If it was a touch up job, I'm sure you would be able to tell fairly easily. Anyways, not trying to put down a supplier I've never dealt with personally, it just appears from this as if this particular case hasn't been dealt with correctly by them. I am sure that any of the ppl defending them would feel the same way if their frame had fingerprints and/or chips in the R1850 paint job. shaun2312009-06-30 01:38:00
