Nothing new to this debate, its been circulated in running circles for a long time with the likes of Harmony and Mr Price sponsoring overseas runners. scotty2009-07-09 01:01:32

Lets hope that next year AP brings a whole team of blond Swedes, wouldn't that be something. In fact, we should insist on it to help raise the level of our ladies. Smile

I would even volunteer some of my time to help manage the team.

I reckon it is time to draw the lager (waggons not hops), bought up all the old "dikwielle" we can find, tossed out the Sidi cycle shoes for Bata takkies. We would not even have to wear helmets (going far too slow) or debate the Crampy Sh*tmano merits. We can have our own race (the Tour De Farce).

To hell with foreigners. Remember Amajuba!!!!!

Oh' date=' and we better get Barloworld to fire all those smelly foreigners on their pro continental team, too. Dunno how we've managed to tolerate it this far.

Why don't we turn this all around.

We Saffers must stop supporting foreign bike manufacturers and only purchase local.

Woohoo, Patrick needs to quadruple his manufacturing facility and we're all going to be riding MTB's from now on.

LOL

Thank you one and all - this has been one of the most entertaining threads on thehub. Ok maybe the jelly baby jacksons one was funnier...

It got me thinking though - we have Parys - we have our own little Eiffel Tower - why not have our own little vrystaater fiasco? Only SA bikes allowed (I have a circa 1995 rusted 7spd Zini that'll do) - we'll do a different route every day, chow boerewors, blow vuvuzelas (flame me flame me!!), burn an effigy of Alpha Pharm's CEO, toyi toyi round the braai and generally do stupid south african things.

If only you could see the mental image in my head....odd indeed.

Ahh but you know our big mistake with this one was to jump in too hard too quick.  Look, the thing has burnt out cuz Darkhorse didnt show again after the 1st post, & it's only 10 o' clock, what are we gonna do now?

It's the same as when John Terry gets substituted in a game, it's no fun as there's no one left to hate.

Next time, one of us has to be sympathetic and draw things out more slowly so that the intended victim sticks around a bit longer.

Deal?

Saxo Bank must get rid of Voigt, Schleck brothers and Cancellara.

Astana must get rid of Contador and LA.

Maybe a few foreign riders would be great to raise the level of SA cycling, both in the ladies and the mens races.
