Mackie Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 The best groupset is the groupset that feels good to YOU!I ride XTR brakes, XO triggers and RD, LX cranks and it works for me.
GoLefty!! Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 The default answer to the question is XTR. SRAM does not supply a MTB groupset to SA yet. the first will be SRAM X.X which is due in September on our shores. Please revise the question or accept the only answer is XTR thanks

AndreZA Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 I still want to know why you do not get a Sram equiped bike in the shops with a Sram front derailleur and or Truvativ crank. Yes I know you can get is seperately but not equiped as OEM.
Thug Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 I've been riding XTR Triggers and RD for the past 2 years and have never had a single moments problem.
MoreTrails Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 I found the best for me was a big mix of both: Sram Attack/Rocket shifter (You get the Sram solid defined shift feel) XT RD (You get the silky smooth shifting) XT Cassette (its lighter than Sram, cost less than XTR and works just as well) Shimano Chain And the front doesn't matter really, its not working so hard and shifting distances are so broad that anything could work. Gripshifts are guff, but thats just me. They get in the way
no calves Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 ok to stop all the questions. the TOP mix is X-0 R. der. X-9 F. der. X-0 Gripshifts and.... wait for it... XTR cranks. it is not what I ride but what I researched. Sram is MUCH cheaper than XTR. R980 for the top casette compared to R1550 for a XTR.Sram's 1:1 is silky smooth in mud.Sram X-0 is more hardwearing than XTR (I personally rode X-9. Just fitted my X-0 Gripshifts and waiting for my X-0 Jochey from CRC. I am using a stylo witch I rate as almost "XTR" so where is the NIOR's competition then?) P.S. would you rather ride Brakes from SRAM or Brakes from a company who makes fishing stuff
Dirty Twin Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 I run full X-9 from back to front RD & Trigger shifters for the past 2 years and they work fine for me. Have contemplated trying the gripshift but keep on resisting the urge.I think for know I will stick to the triggers.
Marius Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 X.O Gripshifter with XTR FD'er - Then a X.O RD'er with XTR Crankset - XT Cassette with SRAM Chain - Oh, XTR V-Brakes with Avid Speed Dial levers.Marius2009-07-09 05:35:59
_Daemon_ Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 I love my Sram, beeing riding X9 triggers for ages, swapped a couple of days ago to X0 gripshifts, still getting used to it, but seems quite good. All that said, the shimano SLX is a really nice groupset, especially if you look at the preformance/price ratio of it compared to XTR, X0 and XX

Yes I know you can get is seperately but not equiped as OEM. My previous bike I bought was completely fitted with sram/truvativ/avid/rockshox....... (all part of the same company, or group atleast), so I got a good deal!
Iwan Kemp Posted July 10, 2009 Posted July 10, 2009 My vote goes to an XT/XTR mix - XTR is awesome but man it just doesn't last. ? The perfect gruppo: XTR: shifters' date=' RD XT: FD, BB, crankset, cassette, chain[/quote'] That's why you should buy SRAM

I'm sure you could get an X.0 groupset for almost the same price as XT...... with quality nearer to XTR......
