I guess falling some time or another is part of cycling!

I had a wonderful ride into town today. I was enjoying the clear weather after the  very wet and windy cold fronts that swept over Cape Town, but I guess I was enjoying it too much. I work at the port control building in the port and I cycle through the port crossing the railway lines. Today they were wet. I knew it was, but it still caught me out. Ouch!! Thank heavens for my helmet. BTW somebody want to sponsor me a new helmet? Now O have to get home. Ouch!

I think you had a lapse in concentration as opposed to being stupid.

Stupid is when you ride your bike for the first time and get to your first stop sign. Then you forget that your feet are clipped in to the pedals and as you get to a complete stop you fall to your right hand side. Stupid is how you feel when a car crossing the intersection pulls over and asks you if you need a hand.

Hope the helmet did it's job properly.

Back from the doc. Broken collarbone and no cycling for 6 weeks. The helmet did its job well and it was a Giro. The damn rail is stil there, but I am not friends with them anymore. The bike....well, the rears calipers needs some alligning, but thats all I can see. It still rides fine.

There's a couple of mums out there that reckon putting a 2ft baby through a 4 inch gap wasnt the greatest design idea in the world.

So that's two flaws!

Tough luck L'Bie, miserable for you and not stupid at all.

It was only yesterday that Willehond was warning Popeye about these exact same railway lines.

Bad luck with the collar bone. You can get on a indoor trainer if you are as desperate as I was. It gets a bit awkward when you sweat though. That sling causes an itch from hell when you get sweaty.

I've also had my turn with those same railway lines, in a gusting S/Easter. 1x new Bell helmet later, concusion, and wiser for the experience. Hope the break heals quickly.
