.....sigh....and here I was thinking I was gonna get some good advice on this matter.

Maybe pm manfrog and ask what made him squeal?

Even better: find out what made the old lady stop to squeal

From a previous thread:

Paraffin may cause problems.  So cleaning the disk may solve the problem.  Someone at the 24hr recommended Car Disk brake cleaner. <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Car disc cleaner will work if the pads got parrafin or other solvents on them...new pads or not they might have got some on at some point.....also more agressive use of discs will minimize the squeal,I see many "glazed " rotors on bikes that don't get ridden hard enough.

If all else fails, roughen up the pads and rotors with sand paper.

Use Brake & contact cleaner. I use Belray, but I think Motorex has a similar product. Most motorbike shops should stock it.

The guys at Frits Pienaar Paulshof also have something similar they use but I cant remember the brand name. Maybe just ask them.

I didnt expect annything less from a topic heading like that, boys, you have outdone yourselves you had me in stitches on page one.

The brake pads might be glazed is my answer, but Shimano metal sintered pads squeals like no woman can even when not glazed.

I should tell you the story about the lady on the horse at tokai... my brakes squealed the horse got a fright and almost threw her off. she was well pissed off and used bedroom language when asulting me me.

Im not going to elaborate though, a story with a lady, a horse and squealing doesnd make for a pretty ending on this fret.

sorry my spelling got the worst of me there..

If your pads are wearing down' date=' would it cause them to squeal?

Possibly, but worn pads and worn rotors will cause the pistons in your caliper to stick and not retract like they should, this in turn can cause light brake rub which can glaze the pads and rotors, this can then squeal.

Don't try to treat the squeal(symptom),treat the cause.
