IDid anyone else see the huge pile of broken bottles on the side of the Cape Cobra route over the weekend?

Yeah, I seem to recall seeing a huge pile of broken glass on Steenberg Road going down towards Westlake en route to Boyes Drive.

strange that because I saw a large pile of green bottles not far form my home in Lakeside...

I wonder if some company isn;t dumping used bottles instead of recycling them? they were 750ml wine bottles..

maybe the Stellenbosch booitjies can throw in their roads too (Not sure if Stellies is under City of CT or Provincial)

All road in stellenbosch is useless(the ones that are not made for a MTB has glass and rocks all over)

wtf is the idea of the cycle lane in martenson street, its in a worst condition than the car lane, helshoogte has glass, stones, gravel, truck tires and the like on and the dorp/strand street crossing is full of potholes.

Adamtas direction kuilsrivier has huge tree trunks in left care lane and does not have any cycling lanes, forcing cyclist to ride in middle of car lane.

thats just the ones i can think of now but there are alot more.

FF, I ride with a lid, not because its the law, but because its safer.

I didnt know that it was actually a legal thing as well.

The reason I asked about the legal thing is the post man that comes round doesnt have a helmet, so if he falls can he sue the post office for not providing him with the correct safety equipment to do his job? Does the same apply to security guards?

My garden guy cycles without a helmet, knowing that it is a legal thing I am going to buy him one.

All roads around Strand, and even R102 in both directions are full of glass pieces on both sides of the road. Cut a brand new back tyre there on Sunday.Angry

if you can carry it in you can carry it out.  Leave only footprints, take only photographs.  BUT! Understand that some dumb f**ks will always be crashing, throwing, burning, dying from cars along cycling routes. Just be greatfull they did not hit you. Please challenge me on my rational here - like what do I know about trauma?  Ha Ha. thank my higher power for a bike. respect to all who still brave the mad roads of south africa on a daily basis.  we are united in our need for...?

I have always wondered why people can carry full bottles in, but not empty one's out.  Upbringing and culture? Does poverty breed disrespect for the environment?  If a person can throw bags of trash out of the window of their domicile why not throw bottles onto the road?  Some cultures are not raised to respect life; or to understand that their actions have repercusions on others.  On the other hand perhaps they do, but don't care.  We humans sure are a complicated bunch.
