Not overated in my opinion' date=' but ability to multiple vote will skew the results. [/quote']

Geez, last nigh it was seriously in favour of the 'over rated option'.  Looks like someone voted more than 200 times!!!!

Admin, surely this skews things a bit?  Can't we get this changed so that you can only vote once? OuchDead

No way is the Epic overrated' date=' it has got to be the best MTB event in SA. Only if you havn't done it could you think that it is overrated. [/quote']

I haven't done it and I definately don't think its over rated!

I'd love to do the Epic one day purely for the experience.  I just need to get a LOT fitter before I even bother entering.

I've spoken to a number of guys who've completed the Epic - they all say it's so worth it - fortunately I can go and see for myself next year! Thumbs%20Up Still looking for a partner though! Any one living in the North East of Pretoria (Kolonade Shopping Centre surrounds) interested?!

This year, some guys actually went down to Knysna with no entries. The organisers told the to wait until the end of the registration day and the got in. Lot of entries become available in the beginning of 2008. It is my experience that you will get in if you want to.

To those who think it is overrated. Go ride it. And finish it. And only then you will find yourself hesitating to say stuff like that. I saw many top cyclists stop and not finish it.

It is an ugly yellow t-shirt that you can't even wear under your pajamas, but you want it. You really want it.

I think your in for a surprise if you think that your going to do it for R13 500 by the time youve finished months of preperation and the event. Its like all things in life, what ever tickles your fancy. The organisers have done a wonderfull job of getting SA on the global Mountain bike market.

Though  personally i dont like the fact that you have to enter a lottery to compete in an event, and for that reason i dont enter any events where you have to put your name down in the hope that you get chosen.

It should rather have seeding or qualification criteria, making it that qualifying was by results / performance rather than luck.

DLOL

Not quite sure how anyone can say it is overated Confused

How many other races in SA get coverage in the international printed and TV Media? They dont report on overated races.

In the space of a few years CAPE EPIC has reached similar status to other great events like Hawaii IM, Trans Alp, Le Etape du Tour, Trans Rockies, ect... ect.. I suppose these are all also overated ??

ok can i have an entry for next year pls::?

slightly OT, but I really think they should introduce a lap race before the epic starts......for all the top XC riders.......?

oh, I'm still waiting for the "Cape Epice Lite" - 4 days with 40kms per day with no more than 800m climbing per day.......Big%20smile

Why? To determan the yellow jersey leaders? Next year the first stage is a time trial for this exact reason.

I can not even count how many people I have met here in EU that does not even know about the argus - but instead whould ask out about the Epic.  Putting your country on the map is not overrated.

But I do have an entry for next year - so shoot me.

As a race it's definately not overrated but to me personally it's highly overrated due to:

a) Never won the Epic Lottery! Big%20smile

b) No more National Lottery! Big%20smile

c) I need to win both to do the race!LOL

Not overrated at all. Super well oild operation......It realy works.

At first I sort of agreed that it was only for those that could afford it, but after doing 2, I know it is about more than this now. Everyone that finishes has had to put in the miles and must be able to ride "A Bit"

I am relieved and unhappy that i did not get in, but we are still working on this..........................

Seems to me the Epic is over-subscribed rather than over-rated and this leads to a lot of harrumphing.

Who is supposed to have over-rated it and where - I think it's a non-question really.

I like that - posing a question and then calling it a non-question ?
