ok, so I got my homemade light set - now I need to make some device to connect them to my handlebars...

So anyone (technically minded) who has any ideas (for someone not tehcnically minded) feel free to advise.

The bottom pics are the light. The part the LEDs are mounted onto is made of metal if that helps.

Do they have bike shops where you live? It would be easier to buy some lights... Sorry I can't help with the mounting, you still playing ball?

Hmmm, can't really tell if this would be a solution for your dimensions, but you can buy cheap mounting devices from some bike shops, i.e. it's a clamp for your handlebars. I've used one of those an affixed my light to it

Thanks Jason, yip bought lights would have been easier, but price wise... eish. Plus these lights give off fantastic light.

Haven't touched a football in two years... you?

MichH, I'll give the bike shops a bash, but 1 or two I've tried haven't been that interested in helping me. Who do you think will help?

How about buying a cheap headlamp from Pep Stores (they were selling them for approx R30 awhile back).

Remove the lamp / led part from the headlamp and use the heatsink to mount it to the headlamps backing plate.

Help: Ideas for mounting lights

I would first ask it out on a date. Maybe dinner and a movie. A few drinks afterwards. Maybe dancing. If the mood is right, try your luck then. But remember NO means NO.

Okay, where did I put my coat.

EB - you're not far off! I am useless when it comes to building things with my hands, hence the topic

Thug - Pep? Come on, you taking the p1ss? Ok, I'll try to find a pep and see what they have got

Got a reflector from my LBS recently that had a bar clamp that was the perfect size for handlebars. Just modified it to hold the light! They only take those off (or don't mount them) and throw them in the bin!

You'll need to build a housing for the light and associated electronics first. It needs to be from metal as plastic will just melt from the heat given off by the lights (thats why you have that huge heatsink at the back of the lights)

Best would be to cut off a piece of square aluminium piping and fit the light inside. A bit of thermal epoxy will hold the heat sink in place (thats what you used to connect the LED backs to the heatsink, right?)

Then you can just atttatch the piping to a reflector mount as BigBen mentioned.
