I month or so ago I wanted to go on a long ride and prepared 2 water bottles with Energade in the night before. The next morning I decided I will go on a shorter ride and only used one bottle. I left the other in the fridge for the next weekend. The next weekend came and I used the 2nd bottle only to taste that the Energade got a terrible plastic taste. The bottles used is the ones with the big lids that most shops have their names printed on, like the Hollard bottles. So I then decided to go and find bottles that were made from food grade plastic. I found the BBB bottles wich is stamped "FDA approved". They were about R10 ea more expensive then the "common" bottles.

So I tried them and I am extremely satisfied. The opening is nice and big. The mouth piece is rubber and very easy to open. They squeeze easy so you don't have to suck. The only problem is that the diameter is slightly smaller then regular bottles so if you use cages that have a set diameter, TACX comes to mind, they will fit quite loose. I use Specialized rib cages that holds them just fine. The surface do scratch easy so they are not the glossy clear they use to be. I have left a bottle in the fridge for two weeks to see if the taste chages and I'm happy to say it does not.

In conclusion, I will get more and fase out my cheaper bottles.

Mampara, i agree. I have been using the BBB bottles for over a year and am very happy with them The silicon seal in the lid also ensures they dont leak.

I'm also thinking of getting some of them R45 at WRC. No plastic taste, and for me a big problem with the sponsored bottles are they're clear. The sun shines on your drink and changes the drinks chemical composition and then it tastes like sh tDead

Yip, mine is the clear ones. Never knew the sun does that. I only payed R25 at Linden Cycles.

The one thing I like about the clear bottle is you can see if you're drinking too much/little, never once thought the sun would make any difference.

Anyone know if Cyclelab stocks these?? going there today to collect my number for the Jock, and had bottles on my shopping list.

Surely the sun wouldn't make a difference during one ride? It's only going to be a few hours, and your drink shouldn't stay full remember?!
