Spinnekop' date=' nee man...ek dink jou Shimano kit was dalk "Friday stock"

Cool.

No problem with that.  Then Shimano must admit it and give me a new set STI's because it was still under guarantee (1 year).  Problem solved.Embarrassed

If I mishandled them, I did not know about it. Ermm They were still "new" to me.

Since then I have continued to convert and convince about 23 guys to not go Shimano but Campy.  Guess word of mouth has its advantage!  Clap

Steve posts here.... lets ask him the question.....

Steve why does Shimano not offer a repair service for STi levers. Seeing that you have such a commanding position in the groupset market it could be a great asset to Shimano?????

Thanx in advance for your reply.

I see Steve has elected NOT to answer my question why Shimano South Africa does not repair broken components. Can one now assume that they do not carry the best interests of their component users at heart. I find this repulsive to saty the least.

I once lost the retaining screw of the cover on a Deore Rapibfire Shifter. They had the aucacity to say they do not stock these and I had to buy a new shifter lever. Luckily my LBS buddy was able to scrounge one from his toolkit.

I really cannot understand their attitude!!!!!!!???????

I urge other Shimano users who has had trhe same sort of attitude to recount their experiences here. If they do not want to listen they will feel. I will also copy and paste your comments onto international messageboards so trhey can also experience the level of service delivery of the worlds major bicycle component manufacturer.

BIG H, sorry for the late reply. The Hubsa normally send me a notification that somebody either is responding to or is asking for information. I was browsing today and saw already a negative response with regard to the servicing of Shimano Sti Levers.I would like to answer accordingly as the Shimano Distributor in SA.Please note i take all issues seriously as we do our business and keeping the consumer and dealer happy at all times is our priority.

Shimano warrant Sti levers and we are obliged to service and or replace all Sti levers if they fall into the warranty period which is clearly included in the instruction manual  supplied by your Lbs when purschasing

Shimano from one of our authorized dealers. Please keep your original receipt as this helps us.All Sti levers have a production date stamped on them so this enable us to check on the year of production.

We do offer a replacement service to our dealers whom i can assure you know of our service and use it accordingly. In fact we have one Shimano

Trained Service Manager just doing exactly that on a full time basis.

In turn we ask that the consumer use only Shimano Genuine Parts, ie

Chains, Cassettes, outer gear casing and inner gear cable as by using these genuine parts will not only enhance the performance of shifting but also protect you as the consumer when an issue arrises and perhaps a warranty claim is lodged with us.

Sti means Shimano Total Intergration.

Please do not hesitate in contacting either myself or my sales team on

0861-Shimano or email me directly  stephen@coolheat.co.za

I am only too happy to help you .

Looking forward to hearing from you

Oom.

Old Dude.

Die saak staan so....

It's like this

Ek moet nou gaan probeer terug dink oor waar ek daai levers gekoop het 4 jaar terug.....

I must tries to thinks insides me brain to go 4 years back and see where I bought the crap in the first place.

Dan moet ek probeer 3 jaar terug onthou met wie het ek gesels by Bruce.

Then I musts tries to remember who the Bruce dudes was that I tuned to replace my STI

Die Shimano se rep weet dat ek die STI uitmekaar uit gehaal het oordat sh*tmano nie die ding vir my wil vervang nie.  Vra maar vir Tyson. Vra hom of hy vir "peanut" kan onthou......Big%20smile

Tyson / Tyrone (Can't remember his name very deliciously) at Shimano knows a "Peanut" that took the lever apart after Shimano refused to replace the lever. http://s3.amazonaws.com/advrider/icon10.gif (Think this is the english version of the afr. smily)

So, in kort....ek het vandag GEEN bewyse van enige iets nie.....so hoekom gaan ek nou my siel versondig oor water wat onderdeur die brug geloop het en dit terwyl Jonas al klaar in daai water stroom op gepis het....

So in short I have no evidence of anything.....Why would I want to get mad again about something that I cannot do anything about?

Dis my storie....Dis wat gebeur het.....ek gee nie vlenter om of Shimano my glo of nie.  Hoekom sal ek lieg vir myself??  Ek was dan 'n happy Shimano customer vir 8 jaar......Hoekom oorslaan?  Oordat ek 'n man is wat sy tiekies moet omdraai en as ek iets koop moet hy waarborg dra of as hy dan nie, moet ek hom kan diens......so kempekker was die alternatief.

That's my story and I sticking to it.

Why would I lie to myself?  http://www.advrider.com/forums/images/smilies/puzzled.gif I was a happy Shimano fan for 8 years...why change?  Because I must turn my sixpence twice innierondte and if I buy something, I expect it to be honored by garrantees and if not, I want to be able to service the item.....

In the meanwhile, I have convinced PLENTY guys to convert to Campy.  I have made MANY friends over the past 14 years of cycling.....and, God willing will make PLENTY more over the next 20 years.....and ALL will know that Campy is the best......

Hulle noem die after sales service.....

They have after sales service.....

Steynja.
Campy is less smooth.  A clear "cluck" every time you switch gears.  The levers are smaller and I LOVE the feel to it compared to the bulky Shimano shifters.

Other than that not much of a difference.

BUT.....Campy you can open up and service.  In the past  5 years I have serviced my levers ONCE and the total cost was R250 including new springs.  Good as new!!

And you can shift multiple gears with one click (although these days this only applies to Chorus and Record and presumably Super Record).
